It's an interesting idea.

I'd have to hold off and wait how and see how the legal troubles panned out.

And then you factor in what, if anything, the league may do about him.

Personally I'd kick the tires on Rodgers.  He might be getting a little long in the tooth but he could likely get us by until we managed to draft his replacement somehow.

But if a team decides to terminate the contract you have no issue with that.

The team cannot do so unless the player gave them the option, in writing.

If the player attempts to utilize his leverage (because he CAN'T terminate the contract) you howl like crazy.

What leverage?

The whiny bitch "oh my feeling are hurt" variety?

Yeah, no can do...

Players get traded all the time by “leaking” they want out. Hell it just happened with Julio. They apparently offered Rodgers the richest QB contract for his “whining.” Now it looks like Adams isn’t going to sign a long term contract either, it’s becoming quite the ripple effect. If more players from Green Bay follow they are going to be in trouble soon. Like it or not they absolutely have some leverage, especially the star players.

I don't really envision a scenario where we are trading for him if there is question as to his status. We are not describing similar scenarios at all.

Good, I don't envision it either. Kinda have a nightmare about us doing it, but hopefully wiser heads in the front office will keep us out of this trouble.

Rodgers would retire before coming here.

The guy just gets off on people being forced to submit to authority. It's bizarre. 100% chance his hard drive is full of some really fuged up BDSM porn.

Complete horse-hockey and more virtue signaling please!   LOL.

Contracts are a 2-way street and agreed to by both parties...

...if either side feels it's unfair they should decline to sign.

Own it.

This feels like an over simplified child-like view. This is completely discounting the aspect of power imbalance and implicit coercion.

Another Packer getting pissed. No wonder they had an urgent meeting with their shareholders. Seems odd though, because I’ve heard the players have no leverage….

Certainly seems that something is amiss in GB.

If a team terminates a contract, the player still gets paid.
