Today is Protection Day!

NHL teams have until 5PM EDT today to submit their protected player list to the NHL league office ahead of the Seattle Kraken expansion draft.

Teams may either protect 7 forwards, 3 blueliners and 1 goalie or 8 skaters and 1 goalie.

I think there's little doubt the Canes will go the 7-3-1 route. Unfortunately for us, the lists won't be made public (by the league) until tomorrow. So, we might have to wait unless someone happens to stumble across a misplaced email or find out who is safe and who's out....

Ya at this point I don’t think we afford the 8 skaters. We’ll see how many D they want to protect though.
