For a player, winning isn't everything.  Archie Manning never had a winning season, yet he was widely considered one of the greatest QB's of his generation.  Dan Marino never won a Super Bowl, but is there anyone you'd want on your team more in that era?  Barry Sanders, never won anything of note, but the dude was just ELECTRIC with the ball in his hands.  Calvin Johnson, likewise.  The list goes on.

When you speak of a franchise as a whole, becoming a winning team is important.  But when you're talking about players, greatness is separate.  CMC is a great player, regardless of our success as a franchise.

Winning in general is separate from winning a championship. The list of entertaining athletes without a title is plentiful. But you have to start somewhere. Dan Marino led the Dolphins to a perfect regular season. Carolina can't even compete in the division at the moment.

It's been discussed. Our starting qb was our leading rusher and that was a very significant factor in the team slipping into the postseason at all. This after investing a top ten pick in an offensive playmaker. Ironic that was the beginning of the end.

Nah. The actual"beginning of the end" was Newton's injury, and the later aggravation of it against the Steelers.

It's the weirdest thing though. The team didn't close down after that. In fact, they're still in the process of rebuilding and a lot of us are optimistic about the future.

Of course there's others that just want to be pathetic trolls, but you're always gonna have that 😕

So we shouldn't post gifs from W's?...because we didn't win the division?

This really is all about that you're a jags fan isn't?

Hey you got Trevor.   Cheer up.

Do you really think running him into the ground in 2017 had nothing at all to do with his deterioration the following season?

McCaffrey actually got even better in the following two years and had the 1000/1000 achievement in 2019.

Lemme guess: You also have a different definition of "deterioration" maybe? 🤔

(or perhaps you just have no clue what you're talking about)

No, he didn't.

His best season was 14-2 and losing the Super Bowl.

Cam did better than that at 15-1 and losing the Super Bowl

There have only been two perfect regular seasons in NFL history. Yes, the Dolphins had one of them, but it was in 1972. Bob Griese and Earl Morall were the quarterbacks. Dan Marino was 11 years old

(Yikes !)

Okay you got me I got decades mixed up. But the point remains. Marino is a hall of famer and one of the all time greats. He didn't win a ring but he did win. Barry Sanders likewise is a hall of famer. Say what you want about their overall teams but they helped make their respective franchises relevant again in their time just as Cam Newton did for us. Someone on this current iteration of the Carolina Panthers has to step up and do the same. People here talk all the time about Steve Smith being the Panthers goat but do you think he would sit around happy about his team losing while he was in his prime? This young Carolina roster needs some leadership in a big way.

And in truth the fact we are even talking about all time greats in a thread about our team losing speaks to the delusion within the fanbase. This team struggles to defeat the Matt Ryan led Falcons. The franchise we have taken much glee in ridiculing.

The thread was a post of a slick play by CMC.

For you, every thread is about our team losing.

Mike Davis had some nice plays last year too but we didn't hand over a brinks truck to him. When you average 5-6 wins and invest a large chunk of your salary cap into luxury positions losing is going to seep into every conversation 🤷‍♂️

    • At this rate, maybe he'll be a decent 8-9 QB on his 3rd HC by year 6. Standards are so low around here now. Tepper has done some serious damage to the fan base.
