And according to PFF, we swapped out for the very worst QB in the league and added the two worst olineman in the league to the left side. 

With Erving and Eiflin on the left and Sam under center, we are essentially giving the finger to pff.

"The left side of Carolina's offensive line has the potential to be a mess. The Panthers brought in Cameron Erving and Pat Elflein in free agency to compete for the left tackle and left guard jobs, respectively. The only problem with that strategy is that Elflein and Erving both find themselves among the five lowest-graded offensive linemen in the league over the past three seasons. Carolina needs former BYU standout Brady Christensen to take control of one of those jobs, but it remains to be seen if he can stick at tackle with 32.25-inch arms."

"Darnold has been the lowest-graded starting quarterback (63.1) in the NFL since 2018."

Exactly^  We downgraded in some really important spots based on last years performances.  People need to remember a lot of these type of list are based on last year.  You can't base them off of what you hope happens this year, every team is hoping things get better.

If Sam plays better in our system we will be better.

If Erving or anyone plays better at LT than he has in the past we will be better.

If Elflein plays better we will be better.

If our rookies last year make the normal jump their second year we will be better. 

If a rookie CB plays great his first year we will be better.

Lots of Ifs going on...

Not really sure why everyone is so upset about these rankings.

PFF doesn't "have it out" for us, this is just going by the information they have from last year.

The left side of our offensive line was abysmal last year, and we brought in 2 abysmal players to play there and a promising young rookie with short arms.

Our strongest offensive group, our WRs, lost Curtis Samuel.

Our star RB was hurt all last season.

We technically downgraded at QB moving from Bridgewater to Darnold. I know a lot of people are over the moon excited about Darnold, but you're really trading one poison for another if we're just basing this on previous years stats.

We upgraded our defensive line by replacing Short, but we still lacked a lot of pressure from guys not named Burns. In fact, our 2nd leading sack getter left for the Bills in Obada.

We upgraded at LBer, but we're a far cry from having a guy like Kuechly up the middle.

Our secondary got better with Horn, but Jackson was hurt all last season and the rest of the group is nothing to write home about.

Chinn is a wildcard and played well last season, but I'd say we take a hit ratings wise by moving him to FS because you don't know what you're going to get out of him compared to when he was our leading tackler playing closer to the LOS.

This team on paper is better than they were last year, but there is a very real possibility we come out of the season with a similar record to this past season because the talent level simply isn't there yet to make the playoffs and be a solid team.

We just want to be heading in the right direction. That is what matters.

A lot of people get their hackles up on this kind of stuff, but it is a paper exercise.  They are ranking what we look like as a bunch of names, not making a prediction.  Let's hope their post-season wrap up has us ranked better than their pre-season prediction.

I think they probably had us at 34th or 35th last year, behind every NFL team, Alabama, and Clemson.  Maybe Ohio State, too.

There's just a lot of prove it guys.  Darnold, Erving, Eiflin have to show improvement.

On D don't forget Bouye, Reddick, Jones, and Fox  and  on O Arnold/Tremble, David Moore  and rookies Marshal and  Shi Smith.

With a low baseline, a ton of change, add some moneyballing and "diamond in the rough" hunting and you get a low score.

I like our coaching staff and the offensive pieces, which means  Darnold won’t have to do it all by himself. If that defense can step up, we have a shot at a decent record this year.

I got love for ya'll but some of you should lay off the edibles. We have a swiss cheese offensive line until proven otherwise in front of a reclamation project at qb and our star rb already got hurt behind our line last year. This ranking is probably a little too kind all things considered. Youth and an innovative staff is what we have going for us rn.

Neither injury was actually behind the line.  One was in the endzone, and the other at the firstdown marker.  He wasn't crushed by defensive linemen.

All those touches result in hits that have a cumulative effect just ask our last qb (#1).

And for a lot of those positions, nothing bothers me with having "just prove it" guys brought in.

My problem with the guys they bring in on the offensive line to "just prove it" is that we've been doing it every year since Jordan Gross left. 

The lack of attention to the offensive line makes the Panthers look more like a team worried about selling Jersey's in the short term, than wins in the long term.

Talent and maybe even more so, experience. We are leaning heavily on VERY young players.
