He was pretty good against Detroit last year, hell, turn those two ints(first game mistakes) into TDs, would Darnold even be on this team right now?

Yes if he could covert INTs into TDs he would be a lot better and if Winston could, he would be the GOAT.

Howell isn't that good, look at Trubisky, granted Howell's been more impressive in college, but Howell's in a system that's very QB friendly

The only similarity is the college team they play(ed) for. The entire staff and schemes have changed over since Trubisky played.

I became a true believer in Howell during the bowl game this year. He went up against the best defense in the SEC who had no bowl game opt outs and were looking to prove they had been snubbed from the playoffs, meanwhile his #1 WR and both 1000 yard RBs opted out. He still looked like Sam Howell despite multiple bad drops and predictably virtually no running game what so ever.

Based off your logic of having 2 #3 QBs, wouldn't that also mean we have 1 #2QBs and 0 #1QB.

Food for thought...Mitch Trubisky is a former first round pick, currently on a team that didn't draft him charted at #2.

So we have a legit #2 in Darnold.

And Darnold was no better if not worse than Mitch.

I thought about mentioning the point that our #1 may be a #2.  That remains to be seen.  But, compared to our two #3's, at least he was thought to be a budding #1 three years ago, if not more recently.  Our staff still thinks he could be.

The truth is, where these guys were drafted does not matter in the equation.  Being drafted #1 didn't help Jamarcus Russell, and people pretty quickly forgot Brady was a 6th round draft choice (other than the media bringing it up) and Montana was drafted near the end of the 3rd round.  Being a high draft choice in the NFL after about 2 or 3 years is about like having a high GPA from a big-name academic school 8 years ago: it is a great conversation piece, but your body of work since is what matters.

If Darnold does not live up to the staff's expectations, we could have a new #1, a our #2 and #3 may be on the current roster.  The more likely scenario is we would have a new #1, #2, and #3 if that is what shakes out.
