I am excited because Darnold is young and talented, but we've now seen him in the NFL for almost 40 games and his raw abilities have rarely generated steady, high-level play.

And many have pointed to the pressure Darnold faced with the Jets as a factor outside of his control when explaining why he flopped to start his NFL career, but he was actually much closer to league average under pressure than he was from a clean pocket in 2020.

The improved situation with us should show a more respectable Darnold than someone who was in the running for the worst starting quarterback in the league last season. He has too much natural ability as an anticipatory thrower to be that bad again.

You know that picture is quintessential jets.  Darnold running for his life without a blocker in sight (he may be downfield here)  I went and watched old film.  That line wasn't just bad, they gave up after they were beat.    You can reestablish your block sometimes when QB is elusive, which Sam was.  Those lineman didn't even try.

If you're alluding to Todd Bowles, he was already a Lame Duck coach in Sam's Rookie year.    He was already on his way out even before Sam was drafted.

I know this because...DUH...I had followed the Jets since 1997 until they fuged Sam over which was the last straw for me.

There is nothing "dishonest" about the TRUTH in that and that Gase is a horrid coach who never should've been hired to guide an impressionable young QB(the youngest Starting QB ever, at least in Jets history).

We get it. You're a Sam Darnold Stan. He currently isn't good and needs to develop into a starting caliber NFL QB.

I'm not sure why y'all need to post walls of text to obfuscate the reality of the situation.

Darnold could improve a great deal with this change of scenery, but if he’s going to face consistent pressure then his ceiling as a quarterback is going to remain below-average at best.

The question is if the Panthers’ new-look offensive line can keep Darnold upright often enough to unlock his potential.

On paper, it’s far from a guarantee.

Taylor Moton might be the NFL’s best right tackle, if not the most underrated one. We  also have a pair of respectable projected starters at right guard and center with John Miller and Matt Paradis. The left side of the line is where things get really dicey.

Sam has better offensive skill players (DJ, Robby, CMC, others > Thomas, Kamara, others) in Carolina than Jameis does now.

Jameis has much better offensive line.  This will give him a major advantage over Sam.  NO oline is probably the best in the NFL.

At the end of the year, I think Jameis has better stats but Sam will improve over the his NYJ days.

I'd have to agree with this.   The Saints had to clear 140 million off the books, they took hits on both O and D.

I struggle to wrap my mind around this. Like you suffer through years of the Jets just to finally jump ship and follow....Sam Darnold? Damn.

Why you got to be douches to someone who wants to cheer for the Panthers?..as if you are some superior form of fan because you were here longer or you didn't follow a QB.

Why waste your time coming on Pather's fan site  to rip on the QB and on people who support the QB?  What kind of person does that?

With all the time you spend here trying to talk over others whose takes you don't like it is hypocritical to start name calling. When have I said I do not support Sam? You have a problem with not being able to handle constructive criticism. That's on you.

Seems to be an issue with our newest wave of offsewson additions. Literally anything that they perceive as negative in any way is a five alarm fire.

It's nuts. I don't remember this many oversensitive new posters in recent memory.

This from you, who follows anyone you disagree with around....looking  for every opportunity to neg post or poo.

You hold grudges for weeks, and now over a month.

Not everyone who disagrees with you is oversensitive.

@iamhubby1is right.   You have issues.

These are the guys who have been standing in groups around their cubicles talking fantasy since 1998. I can still hear their voices.

Maybe it's you. Go outside and get off the forum a few minutes a day. Get a hobby. Make a friend.

    • I'm still not touching Hunter He again said the other day that he plans on playing both sides of the ball in the NFL.  If he is allowed to do that, he won't be as good on either side as his potential and he's going to have serious injury issues and have a short career.  If he's not allowed to do it, I think he's going to become a problem when the team isn't winning as he's going to feel him not being used on both sides of the ball is why. He's being coddled in that environment with Deion and I think it's doing a disservice to him to prepare him for life in the NFL where your coach isn't a 2nd father to you, to where you can just walk into his locker room and steal his shoes like Hunter does to Deion.
    • He’s a tad behind them. Around 15ish of 32 starters in the league. He’s well ahead of a lot of guys. Tua, Bryce, Cousins (present), Rodgers (current), Devito/Jones, Minshew, Russ (current), Watson, Smith, Carr, T Laws deep ball is weak as poo IMO, there’s plenty. And it’s not like everyone is ripping 60+ers. The key component is if you can rip and maintain velocity of the 30-40 yarders which he does super well. Legit every report out there from Brugler to PFF to PFN document him as good/above average arm strength.  Eye test tells me it’s pretty much that as well, slightly above average.
    • 6-10 carries for  35-45 yds and 3-5 catches for 15-25 would be great.
