Vicious pass rush. Top of the league in defensive turnovers. 3rd down effeciency on offense and 80%+ on red zone effeciency for TDs.

Oh yeah and Slye needs to win us a game or two with  his leg, not his muscles.

What other things am I missing?

We avoid the injury bug at thin positions (like linebacker)

Donte has a probowl 6 int season.

The oline stays healthy enough and performs well enough to keep Darnold upgright.

Tremble lays wood all over the field, Darnold and Marshal pull down TD's in the RZ.

Brady and Rhule keep their aggresiveness and improve end of game clock management.

Snow becomes more aggresive with the better man power.

Oh and Slye becomes a solid crunch time ace.

This is fun.  Great post.

The Panthers win the super bowl at 70/1 odds.

I think its a mixture of Darnold playing well above average

We lean on Cmac all year and into the playoffs

Our defense gels and is a top 5ish unit

Father time finally snipers Brady.

What other things am I missing?

  • Darnold shows why he was a top 5 pick.
  • The offensive line gels and plays well as a unit.
  • Our free agent signings and draft picks ball out.
  • Our defense gets mature fast.
  • We are one of the least injured teams all year.

We had some great players on that team. You can’t really compare the two. That defense was light years ahead of this one too.

Yeah and they were a far more seasoned team than this one.

One of the biggest factors that probably goes against us is how unbelievably young as a team we are. It's going to take time to learn how to win and be successful in the NFL.

TBH, that is why I would like to have a few key veterans to mentor some of the younger guys. Especially with a staff that is also learning how to win and be successful in the NFL.

If we got back to all super bowl winners (or even deep playoff contenders) since inception, our oline is going to have to miraculously go from 18th to at least top 10 but more preferably top 7.

The defense will also have to go up to top 5. Namely the run defense will have to rise about 20 spots or so, the pass defense 10 spots or so.

Thats a pretty tall order considering the the oline, on paper, is still trash. The defense may come close. I’m more confident in that.

After that believe it or not nothing really matter post season, even QB play. Because at that point all teams are doing well. At that point it’s about not making mistakes and being able to close out close out close games not so much a QB dominating like regular season. Generally speaking of course.

The defense and oline preforming top tier, are the top two biggest commonalities in the past decades regarding Super Bowls. Makes you wonder why the oline is always ignored.

However having said that, the season leading up to the post season will have to include top QB play, often times more than just being a game manager, though it can be done.

That’s really it. A solid oline allows everyone on offense to flourish, and allows for superior execution regardless of weapons or QB.

But the offense is unlike the defense where you really do need a well rounded team. Defense wins championships is very true. And an offense gets you there. But for the Panthers specifically, all those pressures from last year need to turn to sacks and the run defense has to be addressed significantly.

I wouldn’t hold my breathe this year. I mean it’s very rarely done in that amount of time. Taking a 5-11 team to a super bowl victory the next year not to mention ridiculous ranking jumps. I suspect and expect a playoff run in 2022.

We were one kick away from winning the Super Bowl with Jake Delhomme and a team of nobodies and castoffs. The odds aren't important.

We can do this.

Don't sully Jake's name like that. If we get prime Jake level play out of Darnold we'll all be thrilled... and we'll be heading to the playoffs.
