Stadium funding has been talked about for years though. Outrage isn't anything new. As for examples of privately funded stadiums it is obviously less common but it has happened. See below.

well, you never know what the future holds.   There will be outbreaks/viruses and health concerns in the future. 

outdoors > indoors certainly has it's advantages in that regards even if you didn't see it come into play this past season specifically at BOA.

It'll probably be retractable. Gonna have to find year round use for it beyond outside sporting events.

A retractable roof is the best of both worlds and gives a stadium a lot more versatility to host other types of events. Why pay for it yourself when you can extort money from the city?

Retractable roof sucks for fans who want to see the game played in the elements like it should be because it'll be closed 100% of the time that it's raining, snowing, etc.

Didn't the city of Charlotte contribute several million dollars for upgrades that were just completed a year ago? I doubt they thought the stadium was falling down anytime soon. I do not see an appetite in the near future for a new stadium.

It's not about what the city wants, it's about what the billionaire wants. If he wants a new stadium he'll have no qualms about threatening to leave without a new one until the tax payer coughs the money over for the new digs.

Retractable roof still isn't close to true open air, not a fan. Texas Rangers new stadium has retractable roof and even when it's open it still feels like indoors. Open air please.

Just keep BoA .. make it like Fenway Park or Soldier Field, has character .. we don't need a new one BoA is nice
