Brown among top rookies

Don't look now, but Brown has 11 tackles, one sack, and a pair of forced fumbles. That may not seem like much, but only two defensive linemen from his rookie class are doing better. Michael Johnson has 13 tackles and a sack for the Bengals, and Roy Miller has 21 tackles and two sacks for the Bucs. Neither have the competition for playing time that Brown does either.

Ever stop to think that maybe Hurney knows what he's doing? :)

Brown was basically starting today. Roy miller and Michael johson share snaps too. brown held is own today

But can you all imagine the bucs with Roy miller and Ndamukong Suh..on the same line next year:shocked:

He's done pretty well. Although it's hard to say how well. The fact that he gets less snaps and plays on passing down may actually help his stats because he has so much rest and time. Kinda like how abraham was the sack leader for DE's last year even though he only played a little more then 50 percent of the plays.

Regardless all you can ask is for him to take advantage when he's given the chance. Not alot of DE have season like Peppers did in his rookie season.

I don't understand why they didn't draft Michael Johnson instead of Brown. While Brown is a tough player, he's a bit of a runt to be playing DE, especially on a team which struggles against the run. Johnson on the other hand is very athletic and really reminded me of Peppers heading into the draft. Instead of someone molded like Peppers, who could potentially be instructed by and learn technique from the pro-bowler, we picked up Brown who doesn't really fit in to what we need in a 4-3 system.

I think with Meeks coming in he will work fine. I works with his system. Look at Freeney, he could be in the same kind of mold not skill wise but style.

^ That definitely had something to do with. I'm not against Meek's philosophy or anything, it just seems odd given our current situation to go after a draft pick like that. We needed someone to help against the run and Peppers could have been a mentor to another 6-7 DE. Brown isn't going to do much for us other than rush the passer on obvious passing downs.

In no way supercedes giving away our 2010 #1 pick in one of the deepest drafts in a long time.

San Fransisco is laughing all the way to the bank.

Hurney=Fail.

Ever notice how people will criticize Hurney's ability in one post, and in the next they'll forget all about that while railing about Fox's inability to win with all the talent we have? And then there are the multitudes of posts that criticize said talent...

It just doesn't add up.
