Team positional history. Historically, we're very strong along the DL. Weak in the secondary. That's why good players like Gamble and Minter are so fondly remembered. You also remembering all the other trash that played those positions for us. Same with Gross at LT. Yeah, Gross was good but the way us Panthers fans recall him you'd think he was Jonathan Ogden. It's just because we've historically been soooo bad at the position. Gross is our oasis in the desert at LT.

Gross was a 1st team all pro in 2008 which equates to being the best LT in the entire NFL that year.

Michael Oher on the other hand...

Gross was very good and more importantly he was consistently good for a long time, but he's not the all time great LT that we remember him to be he just is in comparison to everyoje else we've fielded.

My God dude. Is there any Panther player you are not willing to dis on? Player, FO, Support staff. Is there anyone you like?

Gross was an all time great Panther. And one of the best LT in the league for nearly a decade.

Is this another one of your posts where you are trolling us. Get over it, we didn't draft Fields. Move on dude.

Think the point is while gross was a great player he wasn't a hall of fame LT, but around here he gets remembered as one.

I think the point is, Gross was one of the best LT in the game for almost a decade. Not making the HOF does not diminish his productivity.

There are more than a few Panthers that have had good to great careers. Not making the HOF does not diminish their accomplishments either.

Ah the Panther fan. The only fans in the league that disrespect their own players careers.

The people saying brown disappointed perplex me the most since people fell over themselves praising Chris Gamble, who was never better than fine.

Like what the fug did anyone expect? It was either Aaron Donald or bust.

I seriously think half the people on this site don't actually watch games and are just a CIA op to mildly annoy me.

There's no need to knock down a guy to pump up another.

Gamble was really, really good.

Brown is one of those War Daddy DTs that SEC teams bag up early. He holds everything together in the middle and allows you to dominate the trenches IF you surround him with talent.

If Nixon reaches his potential he'll eat next to Brown.

Yeah, you are the smartest one in the room. I forgot about that.

1st you state, "Gross was very good and more importantly he was consistently good for a long time," Praise.

Then you state, "but he's not the all time great LT that we remember him to be he just is in comparison to everyoje else we've fielded." Disrespect.

YOU may under appreciate his career. There are a lot of folks that do not.

Like I said. Is their any Panther you won't dis on?

Saying Gross isn't an all-time great along the lines of a Jonathan Ogden isn't disrespect. It's reality. He's the Panthers' all-time great. That doesn't make him an NFL all-time great. My point was our views of certain players as a fanbase are heavily influenced by our history as a franchise at that particular position.

This isn't difficult to comprehend.

In regards to all the Jordan Gross discussion, I never took it as fans saying he was an all-time NFL great. But that he was still a great Left Tackle for us for years. And many of us would love to have somebody of that quality back again. I don't recall ever seeing him compared to All-Time NFL greats. But a staple like Gross was for us would make a lot of fans very happy. Myself included.

But then again, I can be mis-interpreting everything.

He's done this for years. I feel like the only one who noticed how excessive it is until recently. It's constant shitting on everyone.

    • We could easily pick apart yesterday’s game: dropped passes, blown coverages, bad tackling and red zone issues to name a few. But it was clear that this wasn’t the same team from earlier in the season. They fought back and hung with the champs until the end. That’s what I was excited to see and it gives me hope that we’re on the right track.
    • I think BY played well today and exceeded expectations. I will temper future expectations as he has to string together many games of consistent quality. One game doesn’t convince me that he is a franchise QB or even a guy you want to stick with for another season. One game doesn’t erase all the negative play and limitations from the past couple of years. I hope he balls out and continues to get better but for me the verdict is still out   That said, I think he gave the team and fans hope yesterday which is a lot more than what we had when we woke up Sunday morning.
    • He was vastly improved today and we need to see more of Bryce the rest of the season to continue evaluate him in order to decide what the heck to do with him at the end of the season. He must play at least like this and improve more from here the rest of the season in order for me to keep him. No more 123 yard passing games and want to see at least this output weekly from him. If this is Bruce improving slowly over time then Canales is even better with developing QB's than I thought he was but still too early to tell and we need to see him the rest of the way as he has at very least earned back the starting gig moving forward.
