Heard a Rumor

It sounds stupid I realize, but if Richardson has no true heir when he dies, then selling the team is really the only option and having the person with the most interest and money be in LA is really not THAT outside of the box. I just hope it doesn't go down that way.

Jerry R's son's are still on the board of trustees.

Sounds ridiculous and if I was looking to buy a team and move them I'd target the Jags.

Once you looked at their eternal lease agreement from hell you may think otherwise. But yes, aside from that huge wall standing in the way, they would be the #1 candidate for relocation.

If this stadium in LA goes up, California will be so bankrupt that we will have to kick them out and let them become their own 3rd world country of hippies. Is that something the NFL really wants to continue to invest in?:D

Well, maybe all those empty seats for a game involving our biggest and closest rival would lend fuel to such rumors! I've been embarrassed for this team in the past, but yesterday ranks up there with them. On an absolutely GORGEOUS day for football, in a game that has huge implications for both teams, many folks stayed away. Our infamous 'wine and cheese' crowd just had better things to do, I reckon!

That said, anyone looking to move a team or expand one in LA should take a reality test. There have been 2 previous tems there (Rams and Raiders). The Rams had a legacy of success there, and the Raiders won a Super Bowl as the LA Raiders, and STILL that town can't keep a team! It's been the second largest TV market since the '50s or '60s and again, they still can't keep a team! It might be that the fans there are 'tapped out' in that there are 2 major college football teams that play there (So Cal and UCLA, and they have all those other sports they play as well), 2 MLB teams, 2 NBA teams, and 2 NHL teams. Football just may not be in the cards for them. But I would be shocked if this team ever left Charlotte. There really aren't that many locations that are realistic for an NFL franchise now days. And remember, other football leagues have tried to stand up in some of those cities, without long term success.
