Bob Stoops is a personal pet peeve.  I’m not saying he’s worse than Gase I’m just saying I still don’t understand how he got the Oklahoma job.  I don’t even care about Oklahoma.  I don’t even care much about college FB.  That’s how much he bothered me.

Another player blaming Gase.

Gase was bad...but he has become sort of a punching bag just like some want to put it all on Darnold.

Fact of the matter, Bell lost a step or two.  Combine that with a bad offensive scheme and you get the jets.

Whether bell was in his prime or post-prime , if the other team knows what your play call is... talent doesn’t even matter. That’s the point here. Gase couldn’t extract talent from his players because he never gave them an opportunity to succeed.

I don’t think I’ve ever seen a worse NFL head coach.  At least not one that continues to get work b/c he held Peyton’s clipboard.

Well, maybe worst in the last 5 years. There have been some epically bad head coaches in NFL history, however.

Free agent Le'Veon Bell said opponents would call out running plays under ex-Jets coach Adam Gase.

"I don’t consider a 'HB dive' on third and short EVERY TIME an opportunity,” Bell said on Twitter. “We line up, they call out the play, that’s not opportunity, on top of the play being a dive. I can’t make [stuff] shake with that.” Bell blames the Jets' playcalling for his decline the last two seasons. It's not the first time a Jets player has called out Gase, who benched LG Alex Lewis for the final six games of 2020 over similar comments and was criticized by ex-safety Jamal Adams. Bell didn't find much success after his New York release, where he mostly served as a backup in his 12 game run with the Chiefs. The 29-year-old expects to sign with a team before the start of the season.

Exactly what I suggested held back the whole offense under Gase. Terrible scheme, no audibles and predictable play calling. Night and day different from what we have here.

I’ll admit there are coaches that I can’t remember or never knew of, but at this moment of off tops recollection, he’s got top spot.

There have been some pretty rough ones in recent memory. Hue Jackson, Rob Marinelli, Marty Morningweg, etc.

Gase sucked.

But Bell isn’t the Pitt RB anymore and proved that in KC.   I mean he speaking truth…but also using that to deflect IMO away from the fact he doesn’t have it anymore.   That year off did him in to a degree.

Lots of teams have poo play callers.  Think Shula has the best win % of any OC in Carolina.

Pittsburgh has had their fair share of great running backs but a lot has to do with scheme.  I thought that when Bell was with Pittsburgh and that when he went to another team he would be just another running back.

Connor will be a similar case when he moves on from Pittsburgh.

Bad no doubt.  Just not to Gase’s level of “but why tho?”

I would have to disagree. The Browns are/were a historically dysfunctional franchise and I believe Hue still has the record for lowest winning percentage as head coach with more than one full season of experience. 3-36-1. Hard to beat that kind of futility. And I definitely remember those teams. The Gase Jets would probably beat them every time.

Scheme and also consistently keeping a good offensive line group. That failed them last season and it showed. That was the key to being able to go 2 or 3 deep at RB. It wasn't as if they didn't have talent, but they had good to great offensive lines paving the way.

Oh I agree.  As I said, Gase was bad.  And if Bell went somewhere else and went back to his fantastic ways, I would have posted different.  But Bell didn't light up after he left Gase either.  He's now a backup and didn't touch the field when his team was in the Superbowl.   I understand there are legit reasons for that, but until proven otherwise, Bell has not performed as he used to.  Maybe that will change...but it hasn't yet.
