I swear the people who are doom and glooming while down must not have paid much attention during the season because the Hurricanes displayed this weird talent for scoring multiple goals in a very short amount of time all season long.

I did but I also paid attention to us dump trucking Nashville all year, so I expected to continue that.

Refs gonna ref.

I always thought NHL refs were pretty good because a lot of them played the game at some point. They used to pretty much let guys play and weren't factors in the outcome of the games. But, much like MLB umps, they've decided they're just as important as the game and players and have progressively gotten worse in the last few years.

And the Carolina - Nashville series isn't the only one with some bad/missed calls- I've seen a few others recently.

Yeah, it's fun to pretend like they hate the Canes. But, the truth is they are just bad league wide. I don't think it's a coincidence that the calls got way worse after review was instated.

They don't like having their authority questioned and they will punish you for doing so.

Maybe we need hot mics on all the refs, like body cams for cops... lol!

Only difference was they were allowed to bully us in the playoffs. That should not have been allowed.

Nashville played the regular season with 502 PIM and 62 PIM in the playoffs.

Carolina played the regular season with 402 PIM and 74 PIM in the playoffs. Basically, over a 56-game season, Carolina had 50 fewer penalties than Nashville. But, come playoff time, Carolina was tagged with 8 more penalties over 6 games than Nashville.

Pretty much why the NFL installed booth reviews and only brought the best groups for playoffs.

    • If he was a vet or had 3 years of full playing time in college, it would be different, I'd lean more on the side of caution.  But this is someone who now over the last 4 years, has really only played in games for one of them as he had 51 combined carries his first two years in college. If he wants to reach his potential, he needs reps and he needs them this year, he can't miss another year without meaningful game snaps. The knee is structurally sound at this point being a year out from injury and today's tech/rehab capabilities.  Sure his lack of game shape could lead to pulled muscles or something, but it's not going to put him at risk of a more serious injury to give him 10-15 carries right out of the gate. Also, we need see what he's got, to know if he's going to be able to handle a 3 down role next year before the offseason.  Because if he can, then we shouldn't be re-signing Hubbard as he's earned a decent contract from someone next year.   We can't give that out to a guy who will end up being a backup to someone on a rookie deal, it's a place we can save money to spend elsewhere for a few years, as we could get a much cheaper backup option in free agency or even draft someone else in like the 5th round to be his backup and really save money at the position.
    • Imagine if we have a defensive draft next year that's just as good...
