2021 Who is our 'Rival'?

Im trying to think about who is our biggest rival and I think that changes through the years...

 

In our prime, around the 2015 team I would have said that Seattle would have been our biggest rival team. The Cam vs Russel and Luke vs Wagner. But I feel like that has fizzed out. 

The last 2 years I could maybe see that being the Saints (cause fugg'em Saints).. or even the Bills/WTF with all the Carolina connections. 

This year... Im not sure who feels like the biggest rivalry game.

Ourselves.  We have to exercise some demons of the past still lingering around BOA.

I still think it's Atlanta and New Orleans.  We'll need to finish second to prove ourselves this year

I would add uncertainty as well. Mainly at the QB position. It's unknown how Darnold will work out.

Back when I was in high school, a guy I knew who was an assistant coach at an opposing school asked me that question. I named his school.

He responded, "You know who our rival is?" I asked who.

He said, "Whoever we're playing this week."

That always kinda stuck with me.

Fantasy-wise...its us and Tampa Bay dueling it out at the end of the season to win the division.

Reality-wise it's whoever we play next, because we're a team with a losing record that doesn't matter to anyone but ourselves.

Saints and Falcons always seem to be the most heated between the players.

I always thought it was the Saints given they kept trying to take out Smitty and injure our players and poo all the time. Followed by get off our field meg ryan and such.

Perhaps it was Jerry Richardson this whole time lol

Right now? None. 

Hopefully, the Panthers will be good enough this season to renew some old rivalries and create some new ones.  But they'll have to improve significantly for that to happen.

Never knew NFL teams had rivals, or chants.  Thought that was just college.

I’ll ask an old John McKay question....which rival/opponent is the sweetest victory, which the most painful loss.  Regardless of the opponents win/loss history?
