I don’t know if we’re top 10 yet. Still a good bit of inexperience there. Next year though, we better be or Snow needs to go.

I think the only thing that will limit us from being top ten, is age and injury. Lot of young guys and most the veterans we brought in have an injury history.

The Panthers boasted a bland and average defense last year, ranking 18th in points allowed, so i look for a sharp upward trend this year.
 
I like the CB Jaycee Horn pick at No. 8 overall but i was concerned that we didn’t address defense again until the fifth round, grabbing DT Daviyon Nixon and CB Keith Taylor Jr.
 
However,I thought we did well with the free agency crop of DE Morgan Fox, CB A.J. Bouye, LB Denzel Perryman and DT DaQuan Jones being the most significant of the signings.
 
While Horn and Bouye will give us a strong CB pair the Saftey and Interior Defensive Line spots leave me a little concerned. I am hoping they will be addressed further when other teams start making wholesale cuts.

I think Reddick, Fox, and Bouye push us into the top 10 discussion. If Perryman stays healthy and the rooks do what I think they're capable of, we could push for top 5, especially if Horn becomes who we think he is.

Not entirely convinced we'll be Top10. Our secondary is still a fairly big mess outside of Horn and Chinn. Jackson is too big a question mark to be counted on, and our LBers don't quite live up to the usual Carolina strength they've been in pass.

This defense should be plenty better though, I expect them to be middle of the pack for most of the year, and come on strong at the end if they can avoid injuries.

Let's not get too carried away with that line of thought. If they are a top 11-15 defense, that isn't a failure. 

These guys are still really young and we still have big question marks in most of the position groups. 

It isn't fair to saddle them with that kind of expectation, IMO. I think we should be hopeful they can achieve that but not upset if they don't.

What the hell is up with the Snow hate in here. This entire board anticipated us having the worst defense in the league heading into the season last year. Snow did an incredible job with what he was given to work with. Now suddenly he’s on the hot seat? If he doesn’t finish top ten it’s going to cost him his job? Man, I swear some of you guys are worse than click bait journalists in the off-season

I think Phil did really well late in the year after the defense really struggled early. Its possible that the lack of OTAs and needed reps  and cohesion played a big role in the poor start. I am excited to see what He can do with the new pieces and a better offseason and more access to his players.

      You're not reading.  This isn't about his college performance. It's about his NFL prospects. The Golden Calf of Bristol was one of the greatest college players of all time. That didn't mean he was a great NFL prospect. Hunter is an elite of the elite NFL CB prospect who was a great college WR too based primarily on absurd physical talent and just natural ball skills. Could he be an elite WR if he focused on that? Honestly, probably. But in terms of him being the best WR prospect in this draft? No. His skill set is just way too raw as a WR. He just looks way more natural and instinctual playing CB.

      Yea...another Brooks move and I yelling. I'll reserve that till I see how many holes he fills in the draft. We all know our needs at this point.

      AND THERE IT IS Thank you, because you posted this as I was typing up my previous response and you did EXACTLY what I said the Hunter defenders do. You're taking people having very legitimate concerns about how part of his game will translate to the NFL and making it into someone talking bad about him as a college player. THEY ARE NOT THE SAME THING Go back and read every post I made about him this year, I consistently said he's a true generational collegiate talent, one of the rarest of them all.  But that doesn't mean jack squat when it comes to evaluating what kind of player he'll be in the NFL, or even just what position is best for him. If you want to think differently, that's totally fair, but pointing to things like stats and awards is just making you look like you don't know what you're talking about, because they don't mean anything.  There are so many instances of players putting up elite stats in college but couldn't sniff being even a serviceable NFL player.  Which again, isn't what myself or others are saying about Hunter, but it's just the proof that looking at stats/awards is a fools errand when projecting NFL potential and impact.
