How much of the Jets performance was really on Darnold?

Do you overreact with everything?

Nope. Do you? I said repeatedly that he is probably not the second coming of Drew Brees.

Maybe some of you guys should start applying for GM jobs.

How does it not count?

I have no idea if The Darnold will redeem himself or still suck, and neither do you.

However I hope Darnold can put it together instead of just saying he will suck so you can fire up the " I told you guys!"

Because he didn't play.

You are correct....staved off an 0'fer.

I too hope he can put it together and have no interest in playing an "I told you so" card...

...I'm simply trying to understand the precedent/logic behind the overwhelming cockeyed optimism.

So far the logic seems to hinge on:

1. Was a #3 pick.  2.  Jets suck.  3.  Sam can "sling it".

As for the precedent, doesn't seem to exist.

He did not play because he was not ready to play, you can probably say he was not ready to play until year 4.

What overwhelming optimism? Most of what I see is bitching because we did not draft Fields or some other QB.

Would Darnold be my first choice? No, but he is here now and I hope he can get his poo together, it would not be the first time or the last.

The guy has the talent, he just needs to put it on the field.

I am once again not saying he is the next Drew Brees.

I am pointing out that you cannot judge a guy for 3 seasons playing for one of the worst coaches in the league and with one of the weakest rosters.

Could have fooled me.

Sure you can.  You might not like it but you darn sure can.

Can't remember who but someone in this thread took the position that Derek Carr was "broken" due to "battle damage"...let's just assume he was a 10 on a scale of 1-10 for broken/battle-damage.

Where is Sam on Broken/Battle-Damaged Scale?

Pretty sure that was Scot, he has a thing for Carr. I am pretty sure you meant David not Derrick.

I have no idea where Sam is at on the broken scale, maybe a 6/10, but the coaches should have a pretty good idea.

I thought it was funny when he was seeing ghosts a couple of seasons ago. I am not a Darnold apologist, I just hope he does well and I threw a couple of names out there that did not succeed on their first NFL team.

You're an irrational Darnold fan. I'm a panthers fan.

We don't really have much to discuss.

Actually, what you are is an irrational jerk who wants Darnold to fail so you can get on your soapbox and beat your chest stating "Ha ha!  Look at me! Look at me!  I am right!  Worship me!".

And I never wanted to discuss anything with the likes of you anyway.

What dupe account of a current poster are you, I wonder?   🤔

That's the "I told you so" crew for you.

The point was clear. Darnold just needs to be good, not hall of fame level.

Set realistic expectations when looking for his turn around.

You would think after seeing Cam struggle to find MVP form after his injuries or Teddy not turning into something special overnight because of Joe Brady that people would operate in reality.

I quoted you because I wondered if you wanted Sam to fail.

You sure as hell did a great job at proving my point.    Congrats, buddy.  /s

Thats what I was saying. I don't think he is a Hof'er but it would be nice if he proved me wrong.

He'll be fine.

So long as he improves the timing on his throws, he'll be successful.

(and so long as the O-Line keeps him upright, things will fall into place).
