"He's Definitely a Leader" CMC on SD

Of course he means it but Christian isn't the one who will be reading defenses. Hearing about leadership is good but what we all wait to see is the decision making when things are live practice is just that.

So you're taking the "cautiously optimistic" point of view, right?

Should be easier having a coaching staff that creates a gameplan around how you play rather than constantly trying to force a square peg into a round hole.

Should also be easier having a better core of players, including the best RB in the game there with you.

Or it could be that he actually means it and that they are familiar with each other because they were working out together while Sam was a jet.

They also hung out together for college media days, and although you can’t call Stanford and USC “rivals”, there is that connection and respect between the two private schools and their players.  The only time I’ve seen PAC12 players helping an opponent on the other team up off the field.

For comparison... Below is what CMC said about Teddy prior to the 2020 season...

McCaffrey spoke with Jonathan M. Alexander of the Charlotte Observer about all things Panthers heading into the 2020 NFL season, including the arrival of quarterback Teddy Bridgewater, saying:

"I love Teddy. I'm extremely excited to work with him. Obviously he's had success in the past and what he did last year. But also just being able to get to know him this offseason, seeing the way he approaches the game, seeing the way he goes about his business, it's exciting and I'm really excited to share the backfield with him."

It is almost like the Panthers are a for-profit business trying to sell a product to consumers.  Weird.

Overall considering the moves we have made yes. But this is the time of year where optimism is the highest we haven't even had a full camp yet.

I'm with you. Don't forget that offensive line though. That's arguably a bigger question than Darnold because we have struggled to build a consistent line for the last decade.

Agreed. I think our OL still needs some help, but I think we're way ahead of what he had in NY/NJ. That line was baaaaaad.

    • I think it will be hard to not go edge in the second if we go QB first. Say you have Starks, one of Bond/Egbuka, and maybe one Edge (don't have a name to throw out that is end of 1st round projected and may slide)... do you still go Starks? Just curious. I haven't looked into starks much, as I've been focused on QB, WR, and DL prospects.
