I struggled with the same concerns about our newest guards.  However, I am less concerned about Moore than Brown.   We shall see, but I LOVE Moore and hope he can get there.  And you have to run the ball in A gap too, so maybe their strengths will offset.  I wish I knew more about this Blitz.  I am just trying to piece it together and look at it all as they might be--

I love Moore, don't get me wrong, and I hope he makes the team.

The video you posted clearly shows Moore is willing to get up the field and block at the second level.  That's great.   Still his agility scores were horrible and his 40 time pretty mediocre.  How is he going to be able to make plays like these when his opponents in the NFL are much, much better and more athletic than the FCS players he faced previously ?   That's the biggest question for me.

The old cut blocking technique worked wonders for making poop RBs look like superstars because it scared the defensive linemen into thinking they were about to lose their ACLs.

Well that, plus a sad number of those defensive lineman did lose their ACLs.

Mentioned one of our own above. That wasn't against Denver but it was the same scheme.

I didn't read the whole thread, but I'm guessing it was Al Wallace.

I can tell you that I will be so focused on preseason this year, I might get nervous before the games.

And what I do not know is this--were Denver and Washington running outside zone schemes or wide schemes?  I imagine there is a combination of both---but I am not that familiar with other teams.

Don't know about Washington, but Gibbs was Denver's OL coach for a lot of the Shanahan years.

Some of y'all are making good points and sharing valid concerns etc.  that is making me more curious about it.  I will say this---Pat Meyer has his work cut out for him, but from what he did last year with that group, I have faith.

Probably also worth remembering that our head coach has some background working as an O-line coach.

Voth not long ago said that somebody was assigned to help Remmers with Miller, but they didn't do it. A few people on here speculated it might have been Mike Tolbert.

That's kind of still on coaching though. How do you let a guy get away with not doing what you told him to do? And if he won't, couldn't you tell someone else?

Yeah, if a guy is blowing his assignments bench his ass.

If nothing else there's always a use for Brown & Moore in short yardage - 3rd & 2, goal line, jumbo package, etc.

Basically with these two, when we're inside the 5 it will be lots of rushing TD.

That alone should make the case for both of them making the final roster.

    • I think it will be hard to not go edge in the second if we go QB first. Say you have Starks, one of Bond/Egbuka, and maybe one Edge (don't have a name to throw out that is end of 1st round projected and may slide)... do you still go Starks? Just curious. I haven't looked into starks much, as I've been focused on QB, WR, and DL prospects.
