Funny how those of us that warned people about him in the offseason have so much company on the anti-Teddy train now.

It just took a season of watching him mainly be the problem and then throwing people under the bus.

People are just piling on because it's the cool thing to do at the moment.

I'm not mad at Teddy though. Us signing Teddy allowed us to draft the way we wanted to (all defense) and so did the Sam signing this year.

This team is willing to take a chance on QB in order to build the rest of the roster. Most won't and don't agree with that, but I actually like that way of building a roster.

Jilted lover syndrome.

I don't actually dislike him anymore for what he said. For all we know it was accurate.

I was optimistic about Teddy, because I thought that he would excel in Brady's offense.  He also has plenty of reps as a starting QB in the league and brings experience.

The main problem is his attitude.  If he was a true professional and a real grinder, he'd still be on the team IMO.  The team decided to replace him ASAP not because he played poorly on the field.  (He did).  But because his mindset does not fit the culture that Rhule and company are installing.  As soon as he blamed Brady about the play call not coming down in time that one game, I knew it was over.  We'd eat whatever salary we would have to eat to get rid of him.  And well, here we are.

I'll admit I was wrong about Teddy, and our team made a huge mistake signing him last offseason.  Its just encouraging to me that they have the ability to move on from a bad decision that quickly.

Yes. Considering how hard it is to get an upper echelon QB, it makes sense to try to develop as complete a team as you can while taking chances at finding the field general to lead the group. (through the draft, trades, FA)

Most teams don't have true franchise QBs anyway, so you might as well work on making the rest of the pieces as good as you are able while you hunt.

I don't know that I would necessarily attribute it to his attitude. He was largely the same player as he was beforehand. I think they(and the bulk of the fans) just had unrealistic expectations for him. We wanted him to be something he is not.

That is my big fear for Sam Darnold. People are really setting their expectations very high for a player that has really shown almost no ability to be that.

In a similar vein, I am not going to jump all over Darnold if he does just keep being the same player he was in NY. He didn't trade for him, he didn't draft him and I don't think he is mailing it in any less than Teddy was. Not every QB prospect is a franchise player.

I just hope that in the event that Sam works, they don't think they can just fix anyone.

Thats fair.  I definitely think that our staff thought they could elevate him to a pro bowl QB.  And they were clearly wrong about that.

I do think a large portion of the offseason outcome was attitude though.  Not that they wouldn't have traded for Darnold, but Teddy would likely be going into camp as our #1 QB if his mentality was different.
