So... Fox...

So, how many people think Fox is still going to be fired?

Barring a monumental collapse (aka, losing just about every one of our remaining games) I do not see Fox or Hurney going anywhere this season. I think it will take 2 consecutive losing seasons for that...

I hope they are both gone.

If we can get to 9-7, then I say no. With our injuries, and the hardest NFL schedule, that would be a decent season. Dunno if that would be good enough for playoffs though. But WE HAVE TO ADDRESS QB this off season. Fox would be a moron not to draft a QB or pick one up in FA.

The team is playing well right now, and most of our stars are slated to return (besides Peppers, but the replacements are there). The QB situation will be the biggest factor. I think it will be hard for Richardson to fire Fox since the defense is playing exceptionally well right now despite key injuries (Kemo, Davis). Rookies are playing well under the current system (Martin, Captain, Brown) are seem to only improve each week.

If this team keeps getting better, and more wins come, Fox will be here. An 8-8 record or better and Fox keeps his job.

One more thing...Kyle Boller is a FA after this season, and Fox and Hurney said 2 years ago that they loved him. He is 28, about the same age as Delhomme when we brought him in. Jake # 2 will be the Panthers starter next season.

lol that is like signing jake delhomme but with no superbowl appearance to show for it

Let's look at it this way: are we winning games because of coaching, or are many of the players bailing us out?

I know you can't often separate the two, and I know you are inevitably what your record says you are. But are we winning because of or in spite of our playcalling?

When I continually see Stewart or DeAngelo hit the line and then break a long run where none seemed possible, I have to think we are winning because of the players.

I think this is the case, at the very least, on offense. And perhaps that is more a reflection of Jeff Davidson than anything else.

Coaches are no different than players. If we can stand to improve in that position, then we need to do so. We can't get complacent just because we can win with Fox.
