yep, Manning Jr also has a lot to do with my Horn hesitation going in.  Manning Jr only worked playing a certain way.  He couldn't adjust and find success playing different.

It's a legitimate concern.  My hope is that Horn is a superior athlete and can use his speed to compensate for the difference in physicality.

Horn's only real knock I could find is that he is overly handsy with receivers... I hope with good coaching and having officials at training camp will help him find a happy medium...

That being said, we definitely need more aggression in our secondary overall, and hopefully having Horn and Chinn along with the other guys will turn this unit into a force that can actually cover the big-time receivers they will have to go against in the NFC South

Bridgewater had 3700 yards and Delhome had 3200. Their difference wasn’t as much as the WR difference. The 2020 Panthers weren’t some sort of juggernaut passing team that rolled up stats. Considering Teddy’s check down and missing deep/ignoring wide open deep plays, it’s amazing to think that we had 3 WRs with over 1000 total yards a piece.

We are comparing the 2003 WRs to 2020/2021 WRs not what the WRs became. Again, Proehl did barely anything (22-23 yards a game), so it really was 2003 Smith and Muhammad against 2020/2021 Moore, Anderson and Samuel/Marshall-Moore-Smith (not sure who will be #3). We can only hope that Marshall becomes a stud and Darnold has no other recourse than to explode.

Honestly, we don’t know what the final careers of Moore, Anderson and Marshall will be but I’d put the 2020 WRs above the trio of 2003 WRs based on the results. Just one man’s opinion.

Well, it's just two totally different eras IMO of the passing offense.  The rules have dictated QBs and WRs have an easier time completing balls today.  That is a major factor in my positioning.

and my preference for 2003 is heavily weighted on the 1 and 2 spots.  I just think 89 and Moose did some ridiculous stuff given the coverage and balls Jake threw.

I here you, just think we’ve got a very talented and hopefully not under appreciated anymore with Sam. Teddy’s results were far more based on what his WRs did for him than his throws. I still think Moore is tragically underrated and we may see that change, hopefully so.

I agree on Moore being underrated.  I don't think we have any idea on what his ceiling actually could be....given he has never really played with a QB who could really test that out.   Cam's arm was shot and Teddy wouldn't take the shots (then sprinkle in some really bad QBs mixed in for him).

That was the pro with Jake.  Jake would at least allow you to see everything a WR had in them.

    • I mean.....his guy has to be someone willing to come so Geno Smith is out. If you mean RUSSELL Wilson, that is laughable. Fields and ZACH Wilson are just basically the beginning of the end. These aren't likely to be Geno Smith turnarounds. Fields is further proving that he just isn't much more than a gimmick player. Zach Wilson still probably needs a year or two under some better circumstances before I would consider him a candidate for being a turnaround. He is just jumping straight back into the NY Jets fire here.
    • This is factually incorrect. He was a two time Pro Bowler with the Rams and in fact statistically he was better with the Rams in his best season there than he has been with the Lions(could change with this season). Some of his per game stats have creeped into being marginally better with the Lions but there have not been dramatic differences in his play, actually. The biggest reason that McVay and he ended up splitting was McVay didn't think he could win a title with Goff. TBH.....so far he was 100% correct. Stafford almost immediately won them a SB and Goff in a historic run was about 70% of the reason the Lions faltered in the NFC championship game. He missed critical throws all over the first half and throughout the second half that he normally wouldn't. He choked. So, until Goff actually does win a SB...McVay has been right.
    • they have the best defense they've had in a long time...probably the best in the reid/mahommes era.  but i think they are probably the most beatable they've been in a while as well. record doesn't exactly bear that out, but they just don't look as strong on offense as they usually do. lots of reasons for that, like trying to build chemistry with newer receivers, but right now they just aren't as frightening as they typically are. i mean they'll probably win tomorrow, but i don't see them as the strongest team in the AFC right now.
