Want a pro baseball team?

The Charlotte area has pro football, pro basketball and soon to be pro soccer.

How do you feel about pro baseball?

(and the Oakland A's in particular)

I think NC is overdue for a MLB team considering the history here...  I think I read some years back though that the studies showed Charlotte wouldn't be a great candidate because of various factors relating to already having an NBA, NFL, minor league baseball team (and now a pro soccer team).  There has been a huge push to get a team in Raleigh.  I think the viability studies showed Raleigh is one of the top potential markets, so that would be dope.  I dont care which city would get it, but it would be awesome to finally have one...  I feel bad for Oakland fans, but it's Cali...  they have plenty other teams to pull for that no one cares about.

I'd love to support a local team (I live in and work for the City of Charlotte) but this is 100% Braves country and given that they are title contenders.... that's a tough market to crack.

I would love a local team. I was reaaaaaaaaaaally hoping that the Rays would move up here because their stadium down in TB is a craphole and all the players were on the Durham Bulls.

I think it can be done as long as it's an AL team and not an NL team.

I've been wanting a Charlotte based MLB team since I've been able to talk.

Raleigh area has more people now than Charlotte area.  Raleigh only has one pro team.  I think Raleigh should get the pro baseball team to balance out between Charlotte and Raleigh.

The Charlotte metro area still has nearly 500,000 more people in it than the Raleigh metro. Raleigh area is growing faster though and will likely catch up in another decade or so.

For first time, Wake County tops Mecklenburg County in estimated NC population

North Carolina has a new population leader.

Mecklenburg County is no longer the state’s most populous county, new U.S. Census Bureau estimates show.

After years of creeping up on Mecklenburg, Wake County, which includes Raleigh, finally overtook it — 1.13 million to 1.12 million.

The change came after Wake grew by 1.75% from 2019-20 and Mecklenburg grew by 1.41%, according to annual population estimates released Tuesday. The census bureau has yet to release an official population count, which will be detailed in the 2020 Census.

wonder if putting it somewhere on the west side of the Triangle, with easier access from the Triad would work.  Would love to see it anywhere in NC.

Not the full picture though. Wake county is 800 sq miles in size. Meck is 500.
