Simms is pretty good at analyzing what happened more so than what will happen. Not sure really what his gripe about Fields was about, but since landing in Chicago, it might actually come true.

My favorite two QB prospects in this draft were Fields and Wilson and both ended up landing in awful spots. We'll see how that pans out. I don't think Nagy will get a chance to fully ruin Fields though. If he doesn't get his poo together he's probably gonna get fired.

I loved Fields as well, kinda hoped he was picked before so I wouldn’t regret us not taking him. Between the those two guys and their respective teams, I have much more confidence in Saleh over Nagy, that guy is trash. The Jets could be a nice team in a year or two, where I see Chicago having to hit the reset button on their staff, and hopefully their GM. Fields will have to deal with incompetence and changing of coaches and systems. He literally land in the worst possible spot.

I don't usually put a lot of stock into who is mocked to which teams but generally can get a pretty good idea of overall rankings of prospects. It would be cool if someone did an analysis of different outlets projections vs results using standard deviation of where players are picked. That could at least tell you who is generally correct with their evaluations compared to the teams.

Yeah, Nagy is basically looking like Gase 2.0 IMO.

To be fair, Mel Kiper has made a living off the NFL draft, and he doesn't even pay attention to what team needs are. He simply puts out a mock based on where he ranks players. And when he's wrong (a lot), he acts all pissy, makes excuses and tries to tell us the team screwed up.

I believe that he uses a BPA model that is based on which teams take various players first. If any team changes course or deviates from BPA and drafts for need, then that cascades down the entire board. So, yes, mock drafts are just for entertainment and perhaps a better source would be player rankings based on position.

I worried Nagy's lack of job security could cause him to throw Justin out there before he's ready. If Justin shows promise even later on in the season, it could save Nagy and Perez's jobs.

I watched ESPN this year because of Greenie hosting. I've been a fan of his for a while. I thought he did a pretty good job.

And it showed just how flawed his approach is:

Vinnie Lyler (Sporting News): 7/32

Mel Kiper (ESPN): 5/32

Todd McShay (ESPN): 9/32

Daniel Jeremiah (NFL Network): 4/32

Peter King (NBC Sports): 9/32

The fact he can even still speak or hasnt burned a hole through the ozone layer after huffing all that hairspray should be the 8th wonder of the world.

    • I didn't say much bigger. Watch the highlights I linked. Bryce doesn't have the arm strength and/or talent to make the vast majority of the throws Mac made in that video.
    • Tetairoa McMillan.   The last 28 1st overall picks were either a QB, DE, or OT. Seeing as I don't think we'd take an OT in the 1st and give up on Ickey as an LT yet and there doesn't seem to be a clear overall #1 type of QB or DE pick this year, it very well could be a non conventional #1 overall this year, at least in regards from the last almost 3 decades of drafts. If we didn't have Horn, I'd be more open to Hunter as a CB at #1, but we have him so another CB wouldn't be how I'd use a #1 pick.  And as much as I love Legette, if we have SB contending aspirations, I don't think Legette is a #1 on a team like that, but he damn sure is an elite #2 on a team like that.  He's more of the Smith/Higgins/Waddle to Brown/Chase/Hill (in terms of role/impact, not style of play of course). T-Mac is going to be the top ranked WR on every team's board in the end.  He is going to be a true outside #1 WR who is viewed as a consensus Top 5 WR in the game by his second contract in the same way guys like Jefferson and Chase have done.  His height combined with his speed, athleticism, and hands are near impossible to find all in one player, there is a reason his generally used comp is Mike Evans (although as he's not as thick, I personally see him more as an AJ Green). Yes, as an Arizona alum I've admitted to having bias towards the player to begin with.  But he's also someone very widely being put into the Top 5 in mock drafts lately and most of them have him as the first non QB offensive player being taken, so it's not really THAT much of a homer pick on my part anyways. If a QB or DE truly separate themselves as being a can't miss prospect come draft day, I'm open to that discussion, but until then, or if it doesn't happen, T-Mac is my pick 100 times out of 100.
