Chancellor Brind'Amour contract update...

From some site I have never heard of called Daily Goal Horn...

Could Rod Brind’Amour be the first coach of the Seattle Kraken? It certainly is a question worth discussing.

Rod Brind’Amour was an excellent hockey player. He was one of the more heady players on the ice and could beat you not only with his skill and power, but his smarts. A lot of that has helped him become one of the best young coaches in the NHL, and probably a highly sought after commodity if he and the Canes can’t work out an extension.

I'm not sure I buy into the Kraken angle, but this part stood out to me...

Last night on Saturday Headlines, Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman gave this update:

“I understand that one of the biggest issues there is that Brind’Amour has asked that as much as he wants himself to get a contract extension, he also wants extensions for his coaching staff, the training staff and the equipment staff, which also are not signed for next year,” said Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman during the Headlines segment on Hockey Night in Canada on Saturday. “And he said as much as a priority as his contract is, that is also an enormous priority for [Brind’Amour]. So what he is telling the organization is that he wants a situation where they are taken care of as well.”

Good on Ron, Son of Bob! He knows that a great comander cannot prevail on his own. Every warrior must enjoy the spoils of battle.

Dundon better not fug this up...

The two are very familiar as teammates and also on the management level in Carolina. Before Francis resigned as the GM, Rod Brind’Amour was an assistant coach under him with the Canes. Francis eventually had his contract terminated by the Hurricanes when Tom Dundon became the new majority owner.

The Seattle Kraken have made it a point not to rush a coaching hire saying they would go all the way up to June 30th if they need to. It’s not like there aren’t excellent coaching candidates available in Gerard Gallant and Claude Julien for instance. So who is Ron wanting for? It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure this one out.

This is just a clickbait article. But... Holy fug, I swear to Jebus, if Tom Dundon fugs this up with Rod I’ll never watch or go to a Hurricanes game again. No hyperbole, I’ll take up gardening and spend my free time talking to anyone who will listen about how awesome my heirloom tomatoes are.

Pretty BS article. Doesn't come close to this:

Brind'Amour's current contract is set to expire this summer, but Dundon says he's not worried about negotiating a new deal.

"I've never been concerned," Dundon said Tuesday on The Bob McCown Podcast. "I've never really had a problem keeping good people, if I want to keep them, we keep them, we'll find a way and he's the best.

"I have no interest in owning the team without him coaching it, so he's going to coach it."

The Hurricanes hired Brind'Amour as head coach in May 2018 and have ascended to become one of the league's top teams since.

Carolina owns a 115-64-19 record with Brind'Amour behind the bench and has made the playoffs in three straight seasons, including a trip to the Eastern Conference Final in his first campaign.

Dundon credits Brind'Amour, who previously served as an assistant coach, for changing the culture of the club when he was promoted.

"That's probably the main thing. There were a couple of really good players, but there was a person here who was really good at getting the most out of everyone and creating a culture.

"And he loves the Hurricanes, right? That wasn't something a lot of people can say. Even when we were no good, he still loved it, and he thought about it the way it was when he played and they were good."

Dundon can talk a good game and say whatever he wants. But, this statement is patently false.

I don't think RBA goes anywhere. Mr Top Golf can't possibly be that stupid. Then again he's already ran off a few good people to save a buck.

I'm sure Dumdum wants to keep Rod around. But, does he want it enough to open the purse strings to the equipment and training staffs? We've already seen that he viewed some positions as expendable.

I also don't see Coach or his reps putting this kind of stuff out there for no reason. Sounds like he has reason to believe that ownership doesn't see the need to invest in certain areas of the organisation.

Again though, good on Rod! He is using his immense leverage and well earned respect across the league to negotiate better deals for those who lack it.

This could be written about Forslund or Kaiton as well.

By putting the stuff out there do you mean the article or the fact rod wants to keep certain guys? Cause I’ve seen articles from almost every team clamoring why they’d be the best spot for Rod next season.

The article itself is definitely clickbaity. We would be the laughing stock of sports if we let him go.

I'm talking about Rod wanting to keep the staff together and make sure they are taken care of. The way the quote from Friedman was worded sounds like it came directly from RBA or his agent. That's not the type of detail someone just makes up for a story.

The rest of it... Of course 30 other teams would kill to have our coach. That's just common sense. And, obviously, having a good friend in a hiring role increases your bargaining leverage with your current employer. Nothing new there.

    • Kraven has awful shitty comic book movie vibes all over it. It's just more of whatever studio owns the rights to the Spiderman set, but no longer actually has Spiderman anymore. Wicked is probably no more enjoyable. 3 hour long musicals are tough to endure.

    • The Giants games are an interesting comparison for sure. We could compare the Chiefs vs the Bucs as well, since at least both teams are largely the same as they are now, rather than the Giants whose coach lost his mind after losing to us. 30-24 KC in overtime. Hunt had 106 yards and Mahomes had 291. Baker threw for 200 yards, but 2 TDs. Their leading rusher had 25 yards or something. Our offense outperformed what the Bucs did vs KC, but being a division game we won't have the benefit of being overlooked. If our D plays how it did in the 4th quarter I think we can get some stops.  Can Bryce carry a second game? I'd rather not find out and have Chuba carry the load, but we'll see.
