could be, but i like him more than grier. wouldn't be surprised to see grier cut loose and ramsey take his spot.

Grier/Walker will be battling for the back up role. This guy will be battling with Tommy Stevens for whatever role that is.

The Peyton Ramsey kid will not be our back up. He is a tryout player. If he comes in and BALLS OUT- he might get another look in camp as a UDFA. If he BALLS OUT again, he might make the practice squad. Right Now they are bringing him him because he's got an arm, he is a rookie, he has played QB. They need someone to play QB in the Rookie Camp in case Grier, or Walker can't come in for whatever reason (they aren't Rookies anymore an can't be forced to come). They may want to come to prove they are team guys and get some reps but we will see....

Panthers signed UAB RB Spencer Brown.

Brown (5’11/208) was a two-star recruit and four-year starter who averaged 85 rushing yards across 47 career games. He’s a herky-jerky mover, particularly when tracking passes through the air (20 career receptions) and doesn’t have the top speed of other sub-210 pound running back prospects. At UAB, Brown operated as an every-down player and even added punt coverage duties to his resume in his final collegiate season. To earn a backup job with the Panthers, Brown will have to provide special teams value and improve his comfortability during passing situations. He has plenty of experience in a zone-blocking scheme.

Panthers signed Northwestern LB Paddy Fisher.

Fisher (6'3/240) was a three-star recruit who was ranked as the 44th inside linebacker from the 2016 prep class. Though he redshirted as a freshman, he would go onto start 47-of-48 of the games he played in, racking up an absurd 404 tackles, 24.5 TFL, 2.0 sacks, 14 PBU and four interceptions. Fisher was named a freshman All-American and received All-Big 10 recognition in each of his four years on campus. Though wildly productive, Fisher ran a snail-like 4.91 40-yard dash and posted an uninspiring 3.36 Relative Athletic Score. His play recognition and instincts are beyond reproach and he has a knack for creating turnovers, as he forced 11 fumbles in his Wildcats' career. However, Fisher's slow feet and lack of speed will greatly inhibit his ability to contribute at the NFL level. Fisher joins the same Panthers team that coached him in the Senior Bowl but will likely be a practice squad player early in his career.

Panthers signed Wisconsin FB Mason Stokke.

Stokke (6'2/239) made the conversion to fullback prior to the 2018 season after some injuries (ACL, Achilles) sapped him of his juice at linebacker. After converting to fullback, Stokke worked himself into the lineup, fully taking over the starting role by 2019. Stokke was not much of a runner beyond short-yardage and goal line, but in Wisconsin's offense, that served plenty of value. Stokke punched in three scores over his final two seasons. Stokke even found some work as a short-area pass catcher, particularly on play-action as a flat player, to the tune of eight catches for 58 yards and three scores in 2020. Stokke is a tad light for a fullback but ran a lightning-fast 1.61 10-yard split, showcasing some of the explosion he has. Stokke is built similar to Derek Watt and features some of the same blocking experience and explosive traits for the position.

I gave up on the number part.

Thanks as always Juan for your posting of updated news and such. Lots of work.

After drafting 11 players, the Panthers roster was up to 86, leaving just four vacancies until they start subtracting from the current roster (though draft picks don't officially count until they're signed)

    • For the silly people that worship her it will be that.  The Coleman 'legend' thing, they did that with another fairly average player that was here and I sort of mocked or questioned the 'legend' status. Instantly caught crap for insulting someone's favorite Panther. So okay, Kurt Coleman is a Legend.
    • You allow him to compete--you all are talking as if I am proposing making him the starter. Give him a new coach, new weapons, good OL, etc. and see what happens. You are saying, "Well Damn.  It did not work for 3 guys..."  Right now, our C is injured, we lost our top 2 WRs.  Better question:  If you need a QB, Why would you not take a chance on bringing in a QB who was a former first rounder, a good arm, intelligence, mobility, youth, etc.  and see how he does out of NY--with a better OL, better running game, better receivers.  I am not saying give him a 10-year contract, I am saying give him a chance. You act like there is no improvement on offense here--it was a 2 year process, and next year is year 2.  To me, how can you sit there with Bryce and an opportunity to sign a veteran QB on the cheap comes available and you say--"Not us. We're good.  We are waiting for Patrick Mahommes."  Jone's problem is obviously mental--and he has little support.  Why is this so frigging hard to comprehend.  It is called "bottom fishing" and it is better than sitting in the boat.
    • I think we're going to fall from behind quite early and be forced to abandon the run game.  3 rushes -2 yards 1 catch -10 yards
