Stokke will beat out Mikey Daniel at FB. (If we keep one and don’t just use Tremble). Moore has a shot but likely Practice Squad. Fisher has a better shot than Moore would probably have to beat out Orr or Johnston for one of the lower depth roles.

Charleton has 2 years left on his contract.

The whole draft and free agency is so refreshing. No more Rivera playing the vets/Hurney drafting projects, gonna be like hunger games in training camp

And you saw last year Rhule had no problem playing the undrafted guys over the drafted ones like Trent Scott over Greg Little, Myles Hartfield over Corn Elder, etc. when he thought warranted.

I love it, and it's necessary for building the culture Rhule wants here

Being able to use Tremble as our FB/H-Back would be huge. Gives us another slot on the roster, basically.

Deonte is pretty poor in pass protection. Mauler as a run blocker though. Quick guys are probably always going to bother him but he can be a brute in the run game.

Weird about being poor in pass pro considering  I also read that he did not give up a sack in around 900 career pass snaps

The entire Bama line was good, that does not necessarily mean that each piece will fare well in the NFL.  Intuitively, how well do you think a person at 365 pounds moves?  Run blocking, sure, he's a beast...but he slid due to concerns of keep up with the athletes on NFL D-lines.

I can understand the slide due to weight and character concerns. But poor pass pro doesn’t really apply when you’ve given up 0 sacks in 865 pass pro chances. Other people on that line gave up sacks. It’s a lazy assumption to say fat guy=poor pass blocker

I guess NFL scouts are lazy then and no, I'm not talking about myself.  Making an assumption just off a stat line is even more lazy.  Let's walk through this.  Brown was regarded as one of the top OGs all season and leading up to the Senior Bowl.  I would have to look back, but top three, IIRC.  Then the senior Bowl happens when individuals are graded by NFL scouts, GMs, coaches based on how they measure up versus other top prospects.  Brown looked bad, not just fat, but lost reps consistently.  His draft stock starts to plummet.  If we didn't draft him, how much further would he have fallen?  Seventh round?  Possibly undrafted?

Again, Bama is stacked and the reason they are top 1 or 2 every year.  Having blue chippers top to bottom on the roster with Nick Saban as your coach will make some people seem better than they really are.

That said, I didn't mind taking him in the 6th. Why not?  We needed a guard and maybe he can lose weight, improve his mobility and be coached up on pass pro.  It was a low risk/potential reward pick so late in the draft.  However, he was anything from a steal.

Looks like QB Peyton Ramsey signed with the Panthers.

Yep.

Based on what I've been told by several huddlers before, this is a clear sign that the staff doesn't really believe in Sam Darnold and they only picked him up just in case they couldn't get someone better 😐

    • We could easily pick apart yesterday’s game: dropped passes, blown coverages, bad tackling and red zone issues to name a few. But it was clear that this wasn’t the same team from earlier in the season. They fought back and hung with the champs until the end. That’s what I was excited to see and it gives me hope that we’re on the right track.
    • I think BY played well today and exceeded expectations. I will temper future expectations as he has to string together many games of consistent quality. One game doesn’t convince me that he is a franchise QB or even a guy you want to stick with for another season. One game doesn’t erase all the negative play and limitations from the past couple of years. I hope he balls out and continues to get better but for me the verdict is still out   That said, I think he gave the team and fans hope yesterday which is a lot more than what we had when we woke up Sunday morning.
    • He was vastly improved today and we need to see more of Bryce the rest of the season to continue evaluate him in order to decide what the heck to do with him at the end of the season. He must play at least like this and improve more from here the rest of the season in order for me to keep him. No more 123 yard passing games and want to see at least this output weekly from him. If this is Bruce improving slowly over time then Canales is even better with developing QB's than I thought he was but still too early to tell and we need to see him the rest of the way as he has at very least earned back the starting gig moving forward.
