im not quite sure why this guy was still there

That's where is value was.  Most boards had him topping out at mid-third round.  He was my last hope for a LT this draft.  I had a sigh of relief when his named was called.

Same arm length as Penei Sewell and 1/4 of an inch longer than Rashawn Slater.

No. Both Sewell and Slater have 33 inch arms.

Christensen has 32 inch arms.

33 in arms are a negative.

So you can only imagine what 32 in arms are.

34 in arms is considered the starting point people want for an OT.

The longer the better.

Two things he has to be coached up on, his feet and nastiness. His kick-step is sloppy and undisciplined.  He seems too content on doing just enough to win the rep instead of beating his man handily.

his feet are fine.

his problem is hands and anchoring quicker.

Hand placement/usage is 100% coachable.  Getting big dudes with 'two left feet' to learn to waltz, well that's a bit harder to do.  He has the size and strength to anchor, but is content on trying to wash the defender instead engaging.

At the draft presser last week someone asked Fitt if arm length matters in tackles and he sort of just laughed and said "yeah I guess".

The arm length measurable thing is such an overrated stat in my book.  If the guy can hold his block 3-5 seconds consistently, he's good enough.  The QB has to get the dam ball out faster.

All he has to be is strong, mean and can hold his own.  The kid should be able to do the well enough.  We shall see.
