I'm Disappointed....BUT....THIS....DEFENSE**

It isn't a sexy pick, but I'm warming up to it.  I guess this means they didn't like Slater for a LT.  Having a starter caliber LT is a glaring need and I'm not sure how we are going to solve this because it seems most of the day one LT starters are gone.

Our offense was pretty effective at moving the ball and scoring, except at clutch time. We could not stop anyone and get the D off the field. I am fine with building the D into a nasty, lockdown unit and tweak the offense as we go. We will see on Sam, but if Bilgewater could move the offense, I think Sam will be fine.

Especially now that we should have CMC healthy and available.  He is the key engine for the whole offense and missing him really killed us.

Being a life long panthers fan I've learned one thing. Great defenses get you there but great offenses win championships.

We should have a decent offense. Need to grab a lineman in these next few rounds. CMC, Moore, Robbie, Arnold is a good redzone TE. Darnold to Arnold connection conning soon!

I think we're a safety away from being able to actually send some pressure. And it's going to be really scary when we do.

One of these guys will be available when we pick at 39.

 Trevon Moehrig (Safety)

  1 POS RK
17 OVR RK
90 GRADE

Moehrig excelled in a Cover 4 heavy scheme at TCU that frequently left him on an island working against slot receivers. He's a playmaker who shows good burst breaking on the ball and good timing breaking up passes. He's an above-average open-field tackler. Moehrig was voted TCU's Special Teams Most Valuable Player by his teammates in 2018. -- Steve Muench

Andre Cisco (Safety)

    2 POS RK
50 OVR RK
82 GRADE

Pre-Draft Analysis

Cisco is an interchangeable safety with a blend of size, length and range. He's a ball hawk and natural hands catcher. He appeared to make strides as a tackler on 2020 tape, but it's still a concern. -- Steve Muench

Richie Grant (Safety)

  3 POS RK
53 OVR RK
82 GRADE

Pre-Draft Analysis

Grant is undersized with good instincts, long arms and average top-end speed. He doesn't catch everything he gets his hands on, but he's a playmaker who tracks the ball well and picked off 10 passes in college. He's a solid tackler and a tough run-stopper who does not shy away from contact. -- Steve Muench

On paper, we have a championship worthy defense. Which is shocking to say after the amount of turnover we have had in the past 2 years.

Let's not get too ahead of ourselves.  I really like the way we are trending, but we still need more talent in the secondary, could stand to improve at one of the MLB spots, and could use more depth along the defensive line.  We have a really solid foundation, and there's a lot of young potential, but we need a couple more pieces and for those young players to grow into their potential before we can consider them championship worthy.  I think they definitely can be a top 15 unit this year, but it's not a given because all the young players might not continue to improve.

No, we don't.

I think the defence is significantly improved from where it was and trending in the right direction - but obviously 8 straight Draft picks will do that to you (and hitting on at least 3 of them last year, possibly 5).

It's potentially good enough now to help us win the division, if the O holds up it's end of the bargain, but we've got a long way to go before it's elite.

To me it doesn't scream 'championship' yet, it screams 'oh, they're starting to stack that side of the ball with aggressive, smart athletes.'
