I prefer to look at coach and GM as a combo.

I could see framing rules first year is kind of a "redshirt" year because he needed to adjust from college to the pros.

Fitterer doesn't have that sort of adjustment to make.

Not when Rhule's fingerprints were all over the Draft / FA acquisitions.

Fitterer is just another pair of eyes to help out. This is Rhule's show.

Disagree.

If you go back and read his old interviews, Matt Rhule the college coach absolutely wanted to be another Bill Belichick, the guy running everything.

But it seems like once Matt Rhule the college coach stepped into the role of Matt Rhule the NFL coach, he quickly learned the job was way too big for him to handle on his own.

That's why when you listen to him talk in interviews since then, like the one where they asked him what he wanted in a GM, he sounds a lot different.

Rhule runs the show, but he realised he needed an extra pair of eyes in the scouting department hence Fitterer.

That's why a few prospective GMs wanted nothing to do with the job. They wouldn't have been in charge.

It's the same model as Seattle.

Pete Carroll has final say out there, but John Schneider has full control of the personnel department.

Same here. Rhule understands he can't do everything so he's letting Fitterer and the personnel people do their jobs.

Sorry, its year two of seven. He aint dumping anyone until bare minimum year five

Lol. We were committed to Teddy because it was 2 year minimum, too much waste.

Tepper is going to do what ever he wants. As for the cost, that's paid by PSL holders so why would he really care about waste in that scenario. No idea but a repeat would create a hot seat and we all know that changes things.

As for the 7, WTH. 5 was bad enough.

Rhule has final say on the roster but he's not acting like Belichick about it.

As part of one of his press conference answers yesterday, he talked about the evaluation process and indicated that Fitterer was pretty much in charge on that side of things.

I get the impression it's Rhules show, he just wants his guys doing certain things. Just my opinion, not enough facts and lots of conjecture.

I base this off of how the hiring process went down, who we talked to and how they act and not talk at this stage. Now this offseason has heavey similarities to last year making the differences stand out but it has same basic direction. That's telling to me. At this point I don't take most of what Rhule says at face value, he is a pretty talented smoke blower.

By definition those two conditions are mutually exclusive...

...one of those statements is false.

Correct, if Rhule has final say then the GM doesn’t have full control.

With that being said Rhule probably did realize he didn’t have time to handle all of the GM duties and he probably does give Fitterer considerable autonomy but at the end of the day whoever has final say has full control.

Agreed.

Collaborative would be a good way to describe it...collaboration across the organization is a key tenet of the Appaloosa Way.

    • I think it will be hard to not go edge in the second if we go QB first. Say you have Starks, one of Bond/Egbuka, and maybe one Edge (don't have a name to throw out that is end of 1st round projected and may slide)... do you still go Starks? Just curious. I haven't looked into starks much, as I've been focused on QB, WR, and DL prospects.
