Not to mention the NFL bloodlines. He’s been groomed for this moment. Now he needs to build on his potential and I don’t think we would’ve taken him that high if we didn’t think he could.

I concur 1000%.  He also has what you can’t coach, that drive/confidence/swagger, wants to compete.

I wanted Sewel like most of you .  He was off the board so we took some rated the #1 CB. Last year I never heard of Chinn but look how that worked out .  Lets wait and see how this draft works out before calling for their heads .  If Horn turns out like Chinn did you will say they did a great job , if not then call for their heads .

I was super pissed at Detroit last night.  Ask the wife and dogs.  That being said, if you look at our divisional opponents with offensive weapons we had a big need and it got filled.  Fitts...Sewell...trade/BPA.  I'm surprised we couldn't make a trade with someone to allow them to get their QB (Fields) or some other target.  I just hope that Fitterer wasn't eating or likes pancakes.

they said they fielded plenty of calls, but didn't get an offer that took them away from Horn.

Gotcha.  Goes toward the decision to prioritize stud CB in NFC South.  Can't knock the logic.  Just stinks that we see trades flipping on close picks and we couldn't do the same and still get Horn.

Broncos would have taken Surtain still at 9 and Cowboys absolutely loved Horn and would have taken him at 10 so it was basically pick Horn if you wanted him,  or trade back and I'm glad we picked Horn.

Don't think our fans realize just how great our defense is shaping up to be.

and if you look at our 3rd down stop issues last year, they should understand why Horn is needed.

Looking at one round of a draft is always a fool's errand.  Our problem in the past is we too often did well in the one round everybody focuses on, and did awful to mediocre after that.

CB was definitely a huge need, but not our biggest need.  The thing about the CB position (and I would say the same about OT, especially LT) is there is usually a solid line between a very small group who can come in and do a credible job as a starter on day one, and guys that will start but noticeably take their lumps.  I guess the best way to describe it is the difference in the size of the lumps they will take.

Slater, Horn, Surtain will all be starters on day one, barring an injury.

What this pick showed is the staff was not high enough on Fields to make him the #8 pick.  I've said for weeks, fans tend to look at a situation like the "Big Four" QBs and assume every team who has any need for a QB wants one of them.  The problem is, there is probably no team probably wants any of the four, especially in the first round.  They may like one, two, or three of them but it is very unlikely anybody said they would take any of them.  We liked somewhere between 0 and 3 of them, most likely 2 from what I hear.

Now let's let the rest of the draft play out before we drink the Drano punch.
