If he's our CB1 for years to come it is a win but it all hinges on quarterback. If Sam busts and it's back to the drawing board nobody will care about how good our defense was while we spend the next however many years continuing the search that has taken some teams a decade or more.

I think more people ranked Surtain higher. Surtain is less of an inside corner than Horn, but with the available players on the board and this being the pick, it’s reasonable to think we blew it. 

But hey, if we do, then Rhule gets fired in January. And if we don’t, great. We made a good pick.

That stat during the draft sealed this pick for me. 

All defense last year. Defensive players in first for 2 years. 

Panthers 31st in the league in 3rd down defense. 


Not the OL I was hoping for, but I can get behind this pick.
