Saints might be trading ahead of us

Whatever they do, it's gonna screw us.  With them taking whoever they get, and the Falcons taking Lance that win against Washington really fuged us.  No matter what we get at 8, both of them got better and did so ahead of us.

This will really be the test of how good of a coach Rhule is.

Just wondering why you feel this way?

What if the Saints trade up and take Waddle?

If the Falcons take Lance and 49ers Fields... that means one of Chase, Pitts and Sewell is there at 8. That’s a good thing.

But obviously Chase won’t be there at 8. And if he was there at 7 the Saints will take him. Also, if he was there at 7 the Lions wouldn’t be trading out considering they tried to trade up to 4 for him. So unless the Saints are taking Sewell, it helps us

Its as if... having a quarterback on your roster who was once drafted in the top 5 doesnt necessarily preclude you drafting somebody better.

Jameis Winston has been better than Sam Darnold. But we gotta pretend like we've struck gold and ignore the position in the draft lol.

I can believe if the Panthers aren’t convinced in the QB class of this draft but you can’t convince me that at this moment they are convinced Darnold is their guy.

Per Sports Illustrated the target the Saints are looking at is Sewell.

That's why.

We lose to Washington, and none of this is a concern.  Now it is.  And Payton would cut his own nose off to spite us, and he does so at every possible turn.  He seriously hates us.

What? By that logic, let’s trade every pick (1-7) for the next 3 years and jump to #2 and take Wilson or something. Then we’ll really screw all our rivals over by getting better ahead of them!

There’s a cost of moving up that far, you know...they’d be screwing themselves a thousand times more than they’d be screwing us, unless they hit an absolute home run with whoever they take (like perennial All-Pro game-changer).

This is the dumbest take of the week, and I've heard some bad ones. Do you know how much they would have to give up to move from 28 to 7? It's not going to happen.

Might help grease the wheels a lot if their new head coach is an old colleague/friend.

(which...he is)

They might wanna take a particular player with them, and be willing to negotiate around it.

And yet, we've been sitting back writhing and sulking around in our inter-divisional hate for them saying the same thing for years now - "oh, that's gonna come back to bite them," "no way they can keep signing people," "cap is gonna be unmanageable pretty soon..."  guess what?  None of those things happened, yet.  Theyve signed all the guys and traded for all the guys they wanted and made it through the entirety of Brees' tenure there without ever having to have a massive purge or reset.  Moving up to get ahead of us means absolutely nothing to Payton.  He does whatever it takes to improve his team and if he can screw us in the process, that gives him that much more incentive...  he loves it.

    • He's made some plays but he's also missed throws when it mattered. An interception and timely fumble got the win vs the Giants. The true test of whether or not he's progressing is going to come against playoff caliber teams. Next season? It's unpopular, but I'd bring in several QBs, one through the draft if we like him. I'd bring in Jones (for the right price) or Hooker if we could get him to compete with Bryce and Dalton for the starting and backup position and cut whoever doesn't get it done. Draft position be damned at this point. Put the best QB on the field and take out the trash.
    • Think that cat head is big enough?
    • This is like a throwback to an alternate universe where Jerry had the field designed the way it should've been.
