Yep and he are ahead of them. Two of the most connected people in the league has us (Breer and King) taking Fields, people inside our organization think Fields is a generation talent

And Vegas had us tied for favorites

We get it you want an o-linemen, you like Darnold, but sorry to break it to you as of right now all the signs are pointing to Fields.

If he falls past #3 the odds that we get him go way up.

Denver or NE could still come up for him but it’s not as likely.

Denver is probably not going to, Ben Allbright who is very well connected has said as much and they just traded for Teddy

NE is definitely a possibility. They're going to have to find a team willing to trade though. Atlanta will want a ton. Cinny seems content. Miami traded back up already. Detroit is an obvious possibility but they are probably going to have Waddle or Devonta Smith there at 7 and they have the worst WR corps in the NFL so it's going to again take a ransom for them to move.

I really think Fields is going to fall to 8

I've already said I think Fields is a possibility.

But trading Bridgewater doesn't mean jack sh-t on that front.

Im not convinced the 49ers aren’t taking Fields.

We’ll find out soon.

The only problem is our division rival that could, arguably should, fug us out of Fields. Either by taking him or trading back, it would fug us over so much.

We have Darnold and need OL and CB!

Ok, but I like the Justin Fields kid...

Over many many years of Marty Hurney being in charge, I've gotten used to saying "Well I don't agree with what they're doing, but I hope it works".

I'm fully prepared to say that again this year if they draft a quarterback in round one.

But also hoping I don't have to..not only for that decision but also for numerous others to come.

If Fields is the pick you are going to be so happy in a few years.  Maybe sooner!

If that happens, I hope you're right.

Bottom Line: I care way more about the Panthers doing the right thing that I care about them doing what I think they should.

I am with you--we made our QB choice, now lets build around him.   Sorta reminds me of the time the Cowboys drafted Aikman and gave up another #1 pick in the supplemental draft by drafting Steve Walsh.  That did not really pan out.

Of course you could say, we gave up a 1st (2021), a second (2022), and fourth (2022) and a sixth (2021) for 2 QBs with starting potential.

Now, I have to think if Tepper was behind the Darnold move, he would also be behind the Fields decision.  Does that mean Darnold was simply insurance?  Here is the rub.  You get Darnold, and no matter what these people say about him, he has the tools to be successful.  Imagine getting #15, a second and maybe a first in 2022 to move back and take Horn, for example?
To me, you do not put all of your resources in one basket and hope for a miracle.  You research the player, build around him, and go to war.

    • The other draft picks have turned out pretty well. Brooks will too.
    • I'm still not touching Hunter He again said the other day that he plans on playing both sides of the ball in the NFL.  If he is allowed to do that, he won't be as good on either side as his potential and he's going to have serious injury issues and have a short career.  If he's not allowed to do it, I think he's going to become a problem when the team isn't winning as he's going to feel him not being used on both sides of the ball is why. He's being coddled in that environment with Deion and I think it's doing a disservice to him to prepare him for life in the NFL where your coach isn't a 2nd father to you, to where you can just walk into his locker room and steal his shoes like Hunter does to Deion.
    • He’s a tad behind them. Around 15ish of 32 starters in the league. He’s well ahead of a lot of guys. Tua, Bryce, Cousins (present), Rodgers (current), Devito/Jones, Minshew, Russ (current), Watson, Smith, Carr, T Laws deep ball is weak as poo IMO, there’s plenty. And it’s not like everyone is ripping 60+ers. The key component is if you can rip and maintain velocity of the 30-40 yarders which he does super well. Legit every report out there from Brugler to PFF to PFN document him as good/above average arm strength.  Eye test tells me it’s pretty much that as well, slightly above average.
