Virtually all receiving TEs spend a lot of time split out in today's NFL. All the chest thumping about "pro style offenses", but the college game has been the driver of innovation in the game for quite some time now. The modern NFL offense is a lot closer to a "gimmicky" college offense that would've been scoffed at years ago than it is the venerable "pro style offense" of the '80s.

Talented left tackles usually go top 5, quite often with the first or second pick depending on how many elite QB/DE prospects there are. It's easily the 3rd or arguably 2nd most important position that teams want to solidify.
