Patriots have talked to the Panthers about a draft day trade

Confirmed by Albert Breer in an interview with Dan Patrick (a little after the 11 minute mark in the video)

Fitterer said in his pre-draft presser that the Panthers had talked to at least five teams about trading down. Now we know who one of them is.

It'd have to be a damn good trade package, and you don't often get that from the Patriots.

There's no way the Pats are talking to us about potentially trading up from 15 to 8 for anything other than a QB. I know that there are many who are still dreaming about Fields but it's not going to happen. The writing's on every wall. Go ahead and accept it now and the draft will be much more pleasant.

I would think it would be #15 and future 1st (2022 or 2023) or #15,#46, and #139 for #8
