Field ain't going to matter when you have bums who can't protect him on passing downs.  See how that works?

Grab a LT in the second. This is a very deep draft for Offensive Linemen. We have Moton, Miller, Erving, Paradis, and 2nd Rounder to compete with Scott (and win hopefully). On a side note Herbert looked solid and had the worst line in the league.

So you would have passed on Herbert last year if he dropped to us since we had Teddy? He didn’t start over Taylor day one for SD. Mahomes was pick 11 and didn’t start day one.

The Chiefs were basically a QB away and traded up to get him. The 2019 Chargers were better than their record indicated. We had 2 DL and 1 was KK, so our pick was filling a need. If Herbert HAD dropped, who knows.... but 3/4ths of the Huddle would’ve lost their mind.

Remember when The Huddle complained about Cam’s protection, or lack there of? What has changed, other than the victim of circumstances?

Yep we had a franchise QB and ran him into the ground. If Herbert fell to us it has been stated we would have drafted him. Drafting a QB early that drops to us doesn’t mean we have to avoid getting any kind of help at LT? Why do people think this? We should absolutely get one in the 2nd to compete with Scott and Erving. We have an anchor at RT which we are investing money in and picked up to G/Cs in Erving and Elf and resigned Miller. Our line was ranked 18 last year so slightly below average, but middle of the pack. Throw in a 2nd round LT (very deep class) with our FAs, Moton, and Paradis and it should be even better next year.

People just go in circles reacting to recent situations. Don't expect people to be rational.

It was a legitimate complaint but the fact we had a franchise quarterback was the piece that held it all together whether we had a consistent left tackle or not. Do we go 15-1 and appear in super bowl 50 if we took Marcell Dareus instead of a signal caller like many wanted? People are hung up on left tackle because it's been so long since Gross and think we can plug one in and we are done but within the next twelve months we still need a center and there are no guarantees we workout a long term deal with Taylor Moton. No matter which angle you look at this from the offensive line is far from being complete if that even happens because things don't often go according to plan in sports and injuries happen too.

Said QB had been run into the ground because the previous regime didn't believe in providing him with a good protection. People don't want just any kind of help like Scott and Erving at LT, they want a very good to elite LT.

People are hung up on LT because they want to see someone that can anchor the position for years and not the poor patches that have been offered up the last decade or so. As for things not going according to plan or injuries, the same could be happen to whatever rookie QB you want.

If Fields is available after pick 4 people better get ready for him in a Panthers uni.

I wasn't aware the Panthers were picking at 5. Even if Atlanta or SF don't pick him, he would still have to last until 8. Other teams could trade up for him.

If any QB is still there at 8 you trade back if you can get another 1st and maybe a couple of picks next year since we don't have a second or 4th in 2022. There will be lots of great players in the top 15 given 5 of them are QBs.

Darnold is 23 and experienced. He is better than anyone in this draft not named Trevor. And after that interview I would have big questions about what happens if Lawrence struggles for Jacksonville and the losses mount. I wonder how much he will love the game then since that is his only reason for playing
