Strange. I don’t see the negative crybabies in here. Thanks for your words OP. Whether he pans out or not, I’ll stand by this is a risk worth taking for a 2nd all day. And I do believe he could very well prove to be the player people saw during his draft process. The tools are there.

I’ll be honest, I didn’t want Darnold at all at first.  But now that it’s already happened and I’ve learned more about his situation, I’m okay with it.  I mean, we gave up a first rounder for Everette Brown.  If we can potentially land a QB who can make plays with the guys we have on offense, it truly is a steal.  We have playmakers, we just need somebody to get them the ball and not check down on 4th and 8 with the game on the line.  I’m optimistic.  Still wanted Trey Lance though lol

If he is sitting there at 8, ya never know.

Welcome!  Seems like Jets fans have a soft spot for Darnold.  He appears to be a good kid who has had poor coaching.  Really hoping he works out.  He definitely has more potential than Teddy, so at this point I’m all in.  I’m hyped about our new QB coach as well, which apparently Darnold hasn’t had in a couple years.  Pretty bad when your HC is Gase and he is HC, OC, and QB coach.  I think you got a good one in Saleh.

oh yes, we do.  Amazing kid

Joe Douglas went out of his way to praise Sam today,  at the press conference. It’s worth the listen, if you get a chance. The Jets WOULD NOT have traded Sam, if they had the 3 pick in this draft. You can take that to the bank. They just love Wilson.

Also, it’s important to remember, Sam is younger than Joe Burrow and Daniel Jones. He is the youngest in his class. The Panthers took a high upside gamble

Good to hear, buddy.  Wilson’s a great prospect and I hope he works out for you guys.

Sam is extremely young for how long he’s been in the NFL, he’s like 23?  Should be 24 when the year starts I think, but already has 3 years playing experience.  Our coaching staff did wonders last season with our roster so they really could make a big difference with him.  A capable QB1 was really the difference between 5-11 and a playoff appearance.  So many games where we had the ball with the game on the line, and Teddy simply couldn’t make plays.  It’s definitely going to be interesting.  We went 5-11 and one of those wins was PJ Walker, Teddy was 4-11.  Not good.

I’m really don’t get why people are hating on this move but were okay with trading for Stafford. They were both in bad situations, but Darnold’s was quite clearly worse and they have won almost the exact same amount of games since Darnold was drafted. Stafford might’ve had the better raw passing numbers but he is also has almost a decade more experience and still has never won anything. The Rams gave up 2 firsts for him and because of that (as well as the Wentz trade) I think we got an a relative steal with Darnold. The top end talent in this draft also seems exceptional so I am also ecstatic that we can potentially take one of Pitts, Parsons or Sewell with our pick and still have a QB with roughly as much upside as some of the QBs that’ll be taken before our pick.

Sam is a steal we basically got Zach Wilson for a future 2nd round pic. Every single Jets fan is upset and they are the ones who watch the games not the talking heads. I’m dreaming we take devonta smith I believe he can be even better than mccaffrey in this amazing offense. I don’t believe penei makes it past the lions. Simply watch Sams  last years highlights and his college highlights and you can see why he can be an actual break out star Aaron Rodgers level. I believe the same can be said for devonta smith he truly looks like Marvin Harrison level with elite route running and acceleration

I come in peace.  Hope to be here often next season. Nice to meet you all

First off, we all know Sam had major issues this past season. Not seeing open receivers, bing careless with the ball... etc.  But, we also know the coaching was non existent.  Ify you ever watched a Jet game, you would know not once in 2 seasons did Gase pull the kid to side and go over what was going wrong. Gase was a horrible leader and coach. Ask Tannehill.

I do not where Sam goes from here, but I do know he was a different player from his rookie year.  He had so much promise. And you have to remember the Jets had a winning record when he played his second season. Then came the disaster season. He has to clean up his decision making, but if Brady is as good as advertised, you guys may have a steal. I can tell you about 60% of Jet fans did not want Sam to be traded.  Most did want a Qb drafted, but many of those wanted it to be a competition.  Sam is an OUTSTANDING guy and many of us will root for him in Carolina. If he can clean up the decisions and allow the game to slow down, maybe the flashes of brilliance he showed as a rookie will resurface and he can become a true franchise QB.

Here is a game against vs a stout D in late December, who were fighting for the playoffs.

Thanks for the post.

There are many on here that believe that this was a terrible trade.  I'm not one of them.  I think the change of scenery and our coaching staff will help him.  They won't baby him and will expect him to improve but I think Darnold is excited about this and will come in guns a blazing.

When I was younger, I was a Johnny Unitas fan and never understood why the Colts didn't put him in at the beginning of the 2nd half of Super Bowl 3.   It's sad to think that it's been over 50 years since the Jets have smelled the Super Bowl.  I wish you guys luck with Wilson.  I think he'll be the real deal.  I just hope your new coach protects him because they damn sure didn't protect Darnold.

It's great to get your perspective on Darnold and believe he'll succeed.  Maybe your input will help ease the mind of so many that hated this trade.

Thanks and Good Luck

Go Jets Beat the Patriots.

    • KC has a very good defense this year. It is 5th overall. Yes, still worse than last year, but their offense is considerably worse. Their passing D may be their "weakness" but they still allow fewer than 20 ppg. BY completed several deep passes yesterday, and he was able to threaten downfield in ways he didn't seem capable of before the benching. I'm not necessarily worried about his ability to connect deep anymore. What to me was impressive was that he did all this without a run game. We used the pass to set up what little running success we had. Wild.
    • Solid and fair assessment.   I will say, one of the big things I noticed yesterday was that he wasn't shy to step up into the pocket in the face of pressure.  He's trusting the IOL.  And they took care of Chris Jones yesterday.  We had clean pockets but also good success rate vs. pressure which just hasn't been the case with Bryce.   If he has more confidence the OL gets it done and he can navigate and step up for throws, that's huge.  It's one of the biggest things that's held him back.  He was previously bailing quickly and just too easily throwing away or making dead plays.     He was finding his 2nd to 3rd reads within structure/without bailing in the pocket.  That was nice to see, as much concern I have with him.  And the overall limitations will always be there. Time to back it up this week against the Bucs.
    • Suddenly the Cowgirls look like our best chance for a win remaining. I think the Bucs are playing better than the Falcons of late.  Our lone game versus the dirty birds is in the ATL where we always struggle.  The Cardinals are marginally better than I thought they would be. We are not beating the Eagles, they are starting to roll. I'm saying two at most, next week at home versus the Bucs and the Cowgirls.
