Jets reporters reporting Ruhle really loved Darnold when he was slated to take the Jets job, before Tepper started raining helicopter money on him.

Different year. We were competing with the Giants for Rhule, not the Jets. His Jets interview was an earlier offseason.

The story about Rhule liking Darnold is true though. Rapoport confirmed it.

if anyone cares i think this is basically a future second round pick to see if you can unfug a former first who was in a bad situation and i think it's worth the trade.

money doesn't matter in the NFL, and neither does the cap anymore

i don't think this means bridgewater is definitely traded or that they wouldn't draft a QB at 8.

Jets fans are dancing...because they lost a Top 5 pick for a 6th round pick in 2021 and a 2nd in 2022; a team that has shown it can't draft and retain talent for anything?

They basically gave away their 24 year old QB for peanuts while having a Rookie HC and still no decent offensive coaching staff to speak of.

Odds are they make the wrong draft choice in 2021 while the Panthers see Brady turn Darnold into what he was projected to be coming out of the draft.

FACTS. They were in a great position to trade back for a haul. A lot is riding on this Zach Wilson pick. They gotta hit on this or they just gave up potentially 3 firsts.

We’re sitting at 8, Lance, Wilson, Lawrence and Fields have all been taken.  Sewell, Pitts and Chase are also gone.  Mac Jones is still on the board. Washington and New England are both calling to get in front of Denver. All of a sudden our 8th pick holds a ton of value. We make the deal with New England. They give us 15 and 46 this year for number 8.

15, 39 , 46 turns out to be Parsons, Eichenberg, and Trask

we then Trade Teddy to WFT for a 2022 4th post draft.

That Darnold trade doesn’t looks so bad in this scenario. We essentially traded a 6th for a starter to take the reigns and either run with it or give us time to groom trask.

He did have the 29th ranked oline and 26th defense last year. Darnold’s oline has never been ranked above 24 lol. Even for Panther standards that’s bad (ours in that time was right at 18). Looks like he’ll upgrade a few spots with the Panthers.

Good new is he learned how to run away with the Jets.

In all seriousness I think the biggest take away is the FO’s willingness to move on so quick unlike the past regime.

Kind of a double edged sword though because the capital lost starts to add up. We are now paying TB and Darnold ...and down some picks.

If Darnold flops this year and tray and find another answer next year we will start digging a hole.

Darnold being better than Teddy seems the be the biggest positive people are talking about. But that does make any sense unless you’re butthurt, being better than TB doesn’t mean he’s good enough. And if he’s not good enough as I said the cost to find the right guys will slowly add up.

Could be that even if Darnold flops this year the Panthers will give him more time than TB. He is young and has had poo coaching. The boneheaded mistakes he made could be chalked up to his atrocious oline and bad coaching later on.

Go look at the Jets fans' responses on Twitter. NONE of them are bashing Darnold; almost all of them think his talent was squandered by Gase and that he excels with a change of scenery.

Jets fans are known to be pretty smart.

Yeah trading down with NE for Mac Jones would be a hell of a move. I like that part of your plan.

    • We could easily pick apart yesterday’s game: dropped passes, blown coverages, bad tackling and red zone issues to name a few. But it was clear that this wasn’t the same team from earlier in the season. They fought back and hung with the champs until the end. That’s what I was excited to see and it gives me hope that we’re on the right track.
    • I think BY played well today and exceeded expectations. I will temper future expectations as he has to string together many games of consistent quality. One game doesn’t convince me that he is a franchise QB or even a guy you want to stick with for another season. One game doesn’t erase all the negative play and limitations from the past couple of years. I hope he balls out and continues to get better but for me the verdict is still out   That said, I think he gave the team and fans hope yesterday which is a lot more than what we had when we woke up Sunday morning.
    • He was vastly improved today and we need to see more of Bryce the rest of the season to continue evaluate him in order to decide what the heck to do with him at the end of the season. He must play at least like this and improve more from here the rest of the season in order for me to keep him. No more 123 yard passing games and want to see at least this output weekly from him. If this is Bruce improving slowly over time then Canales is even better with developing QB's than I thought he was but still too early to tell and we need to see him the rest of the way as he has at very least earned back the starting gig moving forward.
