What Interior DL do you like?

To pair with Big D?

Im intrigued by Alim McNeil, honestly despite that hes not thought of as a penetrator type. He is known as a guy who plays three downs and generates a ton of pressure.

Imagine him and Brown pushing that pocket in while, Burns and Co. are coming around the edge.

Early I like Nixon and McNeil.  Later for a pass rusher Ta'Quon Graham out of Texas.  Versatility and a frame capable of filling out.  Then there is Khyiris Tonga a huge man who will occupy multiple blockers.  Lastly Dion Novil is a small school beast with  impressive size.  6'4" and 330 pounds with decent movement skills.  I feel like we need two guys at DT.  A pass rush guy and a space eater.  With bigger needs and the recent draft of Derrick Brown I don't think Barmore, Nixon or Levi O are options because of how early they will likely be drafted.

I really like Jay Tufele. Seems like a well rounded tackle that can do it all. He would be my top choice for DT in the entire draft.

If we wait a little, I like Jaylen Twyman.

I like both of them as well as Darius Stills if we wait late. Apparently Rhule likes him from the senior bowl

I think Jay and Jaylen are third or fourth round types, but Jay is like you said, more well rounded.

Jaylen and Darius are third down pass rush types for now.

none before the 5th round

I can't get on board with that.  I would say none in the 1st or 2nd.  If I had an ideal round it would be the 3rd.  LOTS of value at DT in the 3rd.  Honestly I hope we trade back in the 3rd to get an extra pick in the 4th, that way we can target OL AND corner there.  Man, I really wish we had an extra 3rd this year.  So much value there this year for multiple positions.

I think DT is the lowest overall rated group. TE is carried by Pitts and couple of 2nd(late) guys. DT only has Levi Onwuzurike, who is rated everywhere. Id much prefer focus on OT, OL, CB, QB, LB with the first 4 rounds. Marvin Wilson and Barmore are about the only ones worth 2-3 rounder. Just a super weak class, value doesnt match til about the 5th for me.

I disagree with their being value in 3rd, still what names do you believer will be there and worth the 73rd pick? I feel WR will still hold the best value advantage over DT, but its not a big need. I dont believe Paye is a DT, you may feel different. I still feel the edge group will be loaded for the 39th pick tho...

    • I don't get the Hunter hate. Just imagine his ceiling if he stopped trying to be this 2way freak and focused on one side of the ball
    • 100%.  You have to play the cards that are dealt.  Not the cards you wish were dealt.
    • I'd say its definitely going to be addressed this off-season.  We went into the last draft with a roster of RBs including:  Chubba, Blackshear, and Miles Sanders. We picked Jonathan Brooks in the second and still signed Rashaad Penny afterwards.  Fast forward....One turned into a top 10 back, 1 is injured/out for most if not all the '25 season, 1 retired, 1 will either take a huge paycut or be cut, and the last is a restricted free agent. We brought in Mike Boone as well. Add him to the free agent list also.  We need a physical option.    Which qualifies:  Ashton Jeanty(Boise St): Overall ranked Top 10. Almost 2k yards after contact, 28 tds. Would take our first rounder. My money would be on an NFC East team selecting him. (97.2 PFF run grade) - 121 forced missed tackles.  Omarion Hampton(UNC): Ranked everywhere from 20 - 59 overall. Consensus #2 back after Jeanty. He'll be a second rounder. 1,222 Yards after contact w/ 15 tds.  (90.5 PFF run grade) - 72 forced missed Tackles Kaleb Johnson(Iowa): Ranked from 38 - 69 depending on which media outlet you prefer but generally #3. 2nd/3rd possibly. 1,060 Yards after contact w/ 21 tds.(86.7 PFF run grade)- 66 forced missed tackles Cam Skattebo: Ranked from the 50's - 104. Every mock I do he ends up BPA at some point. 969 Yards after contact w/ 17 tds(92 PFF Run Grade). Probably the best receiving back of the group. 81 forced missed tackles.  If the '24 and '25 draft classes were combined, IMO the rankings would be, in order: Jeanty, Hampton, Brooks, Johnson, Skattebo. I wouldn't take one high but I'd take one for Chubba and Brooks insurance.
