I mightve missed what P55 was saying, but all I got from him was that Fox does indeed show that he trusts Jake based on the stats he's shown. Now you can def show stats that shows Jake hasnt been playing well, but I dont think P55 or anybody would claim Jake has been.

Obviously you get it. That was one of my points. Based on the number of passes we have thrown versus runs we are as balanced as we were last year. And the fact that Davidson let Jake throw the ball 30 times suggests he still trusts him to throw the ball. It is obvious that he is going to shorter more sure passes and running more on third down but I wondered why he didn't do that all along. Most good teams that control the game with passes do it with short high percentage passes and dink and dunk their way down the field. FWIW, last week we went deep more than Brees did. Against us their passing was overwhelmingly short passes. Even the first Td was a short pass that they broke.

I was very critical of Davidson's play calling in the third quarter and wanted him to open it up. My feeling is that Davidson doesn't do a good job of gauging how Jake is doing and adjusting accordingly. Last week he should have opened it up. Other times he needed to dial it back. It isn't about all running or all passing but passing when the situation favors it and when the opponent doesn't expect it.

We have all heard John Fox repeat this trite, but true phrase over the years. Yes, it's true in all situations. It is what it is. How can it not be? Right? Well, I subject to you that "it is what it is", may not be completely true in reference to the the current situation of the Panthers. There is another side:

It's not what it's not.

Now, of course, I could go through all of reasons as to why John Fox's system is not the model of genius that some---still to this day---believe that it is. I could also tell you that this is not another fire Fox thread (but it's not), but it is what it is.

If it is what it is, then it's not what it's not. And, if it's not, then why after all these years isn't it?

The next time you hear John Fox say "It is what it is", I want you to hear the other side, and then tell me what business an NFL coach (especially one who has been at the head for years) has saying the phrase.

BTW, I also approve of "It ain't what it ain't."

It is like looking at a diamond. As fans we see one level which is what is apparent to the eye. Most of us have no special knowledge or training other than what people tell us. What players and coaches see if what is underneath the surface and is at another whole level much like looking at that same diamond with a 10X loop after being certified as a gemologist.

It isn't the same as all.

I understand that perception is a little different, but Football is Football and when Fox throws all fans in the same basket as being ignorant of the game, it is very insulting.....If he were to answer some questions with honest perceptive statements I think I would pass out.

Your interpretation of the facts are an opinion, just like everyone else's on this forum. Some of us may be more eloquent and or clever with our opinions, but they are still opinions nevertheless.

I have a fact for you: The Panthers are under-performing from the top down, regardless of how you "interpret" the stats.

BTW, I don't think anyone is saying that Jake is the sole reason as to why the Panthers are 3-5 right now---indeed, this thread alludes to Fox's shortcomings---just a major part of the problem.
