Folks, I think the ship has sailed. We were all in on Watson and then the unthinkable happened. Meanwhile, other organizations had already moved on and were working on other plans. It's time for us to do the same and I doubt the answer is coming in 2021.

On to 2022...

Well, after seeing him get lit up by Demetrius Taylor a few times, I'm not sure that he is the answer.

Yeah, its much better to just bitch and moan about us not getting a top QB in the draft and just mail the season in before its even started....poo, before the draft even happens.

you're right, we'll be superb if the guard from Minnesota has anything to say about it

We have people who believe Lawrence, Wilson, Fields, Lance, Sewell, Slater, Darrisaw, Surtain, Chase, Waddle, Smith, and maybe Parsons will all be gone by the time we draft at #8.

Yeah, I mean this is a deep draft at OL, so I am not AGAINST the idea of trading down to get more draft capital. But, you don't just trade down out of spite if you have the opportunity to get a high value prospect in a position that is difficult to fill. Quality LT's are probably even more rare than franchise QB's. Top end corner's don't exactly grow on trees either.

That said, it doesn't mean that I wouldn't be listening to offers if they come my way.

Since Miami and Detroit both need WRs badly, it is very likely that if a QB of our liking is not around at #8, a good T almost has to be.  You would almost have to write a script of trades or teams drafting in positions they don't really need for 4QBs (if we like all 4) and 2 or 3 Ts to be gone in the first 7 picks.

And if you did that, a CB will be sitting there.

Yep. We can get a good player, most likely. I mean or we could fug it up and draft someone like Parsons, no doubt who would help plug a hole on the roster but also at a position of lower value.

This is ultimately the Panther way, FWIW.

I mean getting a stud LT this year and drafting Howell next year would have been my best case scenario that didn’t involve us getting Lawrence. In my mind we are still two years away from being truly ready. Give me a LT, CB and fill up the remaining holes on the lines this year. Next year give me a QB and retain our young talent coming to the end of their deals. This is working out brilliantly for me. I would rather have a lock at LT this year than a project QB who may hold this process back even longer.

    • More TDs last year in less games (double the TDs) and more yards per game. Those are some tough stats to brush aside. Career stats are good but we are wanting the player for what they are currently. DK had some drop issues too.
    • I’m going with Nick Emmanwori as the pick right now. Charlie Campbell has him ranked 5th on his post combine big board and another safety is needed.
    • That is ridiculous on several levels. First of all you have to spend 90% of your cap space every year so the idea you can just not spend it every year is against the CBA. Secondly your job is to assemble the best team you can for the fans players and team. Not to save money for the owner.  Third many players who are considered great underperform while others like Luvu and Jackson have overperformed. What about a  great player like Derek Brown who was injured and missed all of last year. Was he a waste of money?? Sure pay DK a fools ransom and hope he stays healthy. He didn't even get 1000 yards last year which averages out to 60 yards a game or play all 16 games.  And lets be real, Jones and Watson aren't  great but they aren't being paid that much either. Real glad you aren't the GM.
