Are people saying start Pj to tank?

or do people actually think there is more to see from him?

cause lol

If you want to properly tank you start Will Grier for 16 games and go 0-16.

PJ Walker will mess around allow the Panthers to will a couple.

PJ Walker is more entertaining and better than Will.  That’s it.   No one is arguing that PJ is the future of anything.  There is more entertainment value to watching him than any QB on the roster last year.  We aren’t going to do anything starting any of them.

These are common opinions here with absolutely nothing to back them up. For what it’s worth, we’d struggle with both for sure.

But Grier’s first start saw us give up two punt return TDs, which he didn’t influence. Take those away and it’s 17-6. Add two short field goals instead of going for it on fourth down twice and it’s 17-12 with 5 mins left, despite throwing to Curtis Samuel, the immortal DeAndrew White and Brandon Zylstra. Oh and if you’d like to point out his interceptions that day, as I can tell you’re salivating over, remember that only one was his fault. Wright had a ball land in his hands and get stolen like a bad basketball player. Exact same thing with White late in the game. Remember, aggressive players try to win, like you said, so he was throwing deep.

I mean, it’s not like your opinion can be swayed. I’m just offering some facts to point to the contrary that somehow he’s the worst QB we’ve ever had when his numbers were not very different from Walker’s.

Well there is Will’s actual play.  Regardless of what else happened in the game....he looked horrible when we saw him IMO.

there just wasn’t any promising in the mess.  Not putting the mess all on Will.

This may be the dumbest thing ever written on this board.

When Z.Wilson becomes a bust, you going feel real dumb. Bet you start making excuses for him also, really if Z.Wilson was black he would not be receiving so much love.

Ex. If J.Fields/T.Lance was white, there would be no mention of Wilson.

Fields and Lawerence would be a legit coin flip.

if you wanted to make an argument about taking a lot of one reads in college offense....you could do that with Trevor too.

but people don’t do that with Trevor.

and people don’t critique Fields when he and his team were healthy.  They like to talk  nearly exclusively about games where 20+ guys were out.

Imagine being compared to Lawrence your whole college career, then you finally beat him, only to lose to BAMA, and then the media has the nerve to talk about some dude name Wilson being better than you...yeah who ever gets Fields is going to have a monster looking out for blood.

heres what im not understanding, if we can agree that p.j. walker can help win games, why oh why is it such a crazy idea to start pj walker (provided he wins out in training camp)? cause we all know when teddy starts to mess up, rhule is gonna want to put p.j. walker in.

PJ has shown he has potential. His decision making can be coached. He already has intangibles better than Teddy.

sounds like a rookie coming out of college, i mean this is exactly what people are saying about trey lance. except unlike trey lance, pj walker started in college for more than just 1 season. i say let teddy start if thats what rhule wants, when teddy starts to mess up, bench teddy and roll with pj walker. draft next season if need be.

Some WFT fans think Taylor Heinicke is the answer.

We also have this category of fans, the PJ Walker fanclub.

I think the games would be more fun to watch, but we would still have a losing record. Forever...

I don't think anyone on here is saying PJ is the answer.  PJ has a willingness to win.  It amazes me the critics on a players that has played 1-1/4 games.  There isn't a rookie ever to play that didn't make mistakes.  Hopefully, he learns from his mistakes and improves.

What I do believe is PJ with the weapons we have will utilize the entire field and give us a chance to win.  I don't want to be in almost every game and know that our QB doesn't have the balls to come back and win.

I hope they give PJ a chance and allow us to build the rest of the team this season.

Trade for Watson next year if he clears his legal issues.

Then we agree on most part. But PJ is the same thing as tanking. I rather we try find our guy, even picking a 2/3round QB.

Rather swing and miss than wasting a year hoping for the future. Don't put the roster building QB position, on hold.

PJ Walker already is a bust, and the race thing is just stupid.

If we are going after Watson than why waste a 2nd or 3rd round pick on a QB that will be nothing more than a back-up.  If PJ isn't the answer than maybe Minshew or stick with Teddy.

The last thing we need to do is compound the problem by picking a QB that may or may not be better than the players we already have on the roster.

I'd rather us the 2nd round pick on a player like Creed Humpries or a solid CB.

    • i think i go in the opposite direction of most. my ideal retirement is living in some old downtown area in a flat above some shop or something.  life out in the country was just something i got real tired of. My kids actually miss some of living out there, which i understand. that was where they grew up for the most part. 40 acres with a 2.5 acre pond. it was beautiful, but also way too much (and too expensive) for me to keep up with.
    • FLASHBACK: I remember back when ESPN was just starting--he was their anchor.  They used to show stuff like Rodeo and field hockey--I remember laughing when he went to a commercial mocking a cycling competition in Utah (or something similar--I made that up) and I laughed.  I told my dad, "We may have us a new anchor when we get back from commercial."  When they came back from commercial, Berman was looking very serious and he said, "Any comments by me do not reflect the views of ESPN....The men and women who cycle are dedicated athletes and we are honored to shine light on their sport." (Paraphrasing).  Dad laughed hysterically. My first memory of him--and that was like 1980.
    • Might not have a team without them. Although that probably applies to the Panthers, too.
