You do realise Mond played for Texas A&M, right?

Of course. But for the SEC they didn't have the stacked roster that others did. But playing in the SEC is light years ahead of what Lance played against and why he is a better risk even though his stats were not other worldly.

For Mond, just like with Lance, I guess I've just been too burned by watching Newton repeat the same mistakes for a decade to fall in love with them.

When a QB enters the Draft with obvious technical flaws that terrifies me. Especially as it's clear that those technical flaws are incredibly difficult to coach out of a guy at the elite level.

2020 class - 6

2019 class - 4

2018 class - 17

2017 class - 13

Stacked.

Their TE could play for us tomorrow.

On a side note, FSU were dumb as fug not to give Jimbo Fisher whatever he wanted to remain HC.

More his game logs show inconsistency from one start to the next, and this year it was particularly clear in the last 4 games relative to the beginning of his year...  I do think that coaching could correct his issues but I haven't watch as much of him as some others.

I don't like him in the first round but who knows after that.

Exactly. It was a game to game issue!

Now do that for every other SEC team and compare. Lots of guys gets drafted from the SEC which is why many see it as the top division. But were they stacked compared to Alabama which is the competition.

Anyone not named LSU, Alabama, Georgia and Florida would struggle to compare - I'm watching England play, so I'm not going to bother digging into those rankings again.

Alabama aren't the competition. Alabama are the run away leaders. Those cheating bastards have the game rigged.

Everyone talks about consistency with Mond. I get it. I've read those same articles too but I also looked at his stats the last 3 years.

*2018 Texas A&M SEC SO QB 13 238 415 57.3 3107 7.5 7.7 24 9 135.0
*2019 Texas A&M SEC JR QB 13 258 419 61.6 2897 6.9 6.9 20 9 131.1
*2020 Texas A&M SEC SR QB 10 188 297 63.3 2282 7.7 8.5 19 3 146.9

That looks pretty consistent to me while also showing improvement in his last season. Also, unlike the other 4 QBs in the discussion, he wasn't playing for the best team on the field most every game.

He has faults just like the others but his faults are also correctable with coaching.

Being consistently inconsistent is not a good trait. They were unranked, ranked, unranked and ranked in his four years. This year his team was 4th in the final poll.

They were 34th in scoring, 19th in scoring, 62nd in scoring, 37th in scoring in his four years.

Even during the season it’s a tail of two halves:

First half 3/5 games a over 250 yards passing and throws for 12 touchdowns.

Second half 1/5 games over 250 yards and just 7 TDs throwing in the last five games including a stinker against one of the worst defenses in the SEC this year in LSU where he threw for something like 11/34 passing the ball. With just over 100 yards. Spiller was the guy who made their offense go. Not Mond.

And this is just stats. For those actually watching the games I think there’s a reason most people aren’t comparing him to Lance.

Yeah, he said he didn't want Lance. You've said Mond is a better prospect than Lance. Both of y'all aren't Lance believers!

I’ve said I’d be happy to have him as well. Just not trading up for him. I’ll pass on that. If the QB isn’t one of the top 4 I would rather not draft one at all.

Alabama, LSU and Georgia are the three schools that consistently get ranked in the top 5. Over the last four years A&M has consistently been the #4 recruiting team in the SEC ahead of even Florida in 3 of the last 4 years.  In that one year Florida outranked A&M, they had the same number of 4 stars and A&M had more three stars.  Neither team pulled a 5. The Gators got the pump for having a higher ranked 4 star.

Most days when A&M takes the field they have more talent than their opponent.

Yeah, you moved the goalposts when it became apparent that he is a legit first round prospect. When you said you didn't want him, there weren't any qualifiers. As a matter of fact, you said that you hope someone else takes him.

    • The other draft picks have turned out pretty well. Brooks will too.
    • I'm still not touching Hunter He again said the other day that he plans on playing both sides of the ball in the NFL.  If he is allowed to do that, he won't be as good on either side as his potential and he's going to have serious injury issues and have a short career.  If he's not allowed to do it, I think he's going to become a problem when the team isn't winning as he's going to feel him not being used on both sides of the ball is why. He's being coddled in that environment with Deion and I think it's doing a disservice to him to prepare him for life in the NFL where your coach isn't a 2nd father to you, to where you can just walk into his locker room and steal his shoes like Hunter does to Deion.
    • He’s a tad behind them. Around 15ish of 32 starters in the league. He’s well ahead of a lot of guys. Tua, Bryce, Cousins (present), Rodgers (current), Devito/Jones, Minshew, Russ (current), Watson, Smith, Carr, T Laws deep ball is weak as poo IMO, there’s plenty. And it’s not like everyone is ripping 60+ers. The key component is if you can rip and maintain velocity of the 30-40 yarders which he does super well. Legit every report out there from Brugler to PFF to PFN document him as good/above average arm strength.  Eye test tells me it’s pretty much that as well, slightly above average.
