The Pats just spent a fortune in free agency, so I don't buy this conspiracy theory about Bill "hiding" him. They could have paid him or put a first round tender on him if they wanted.

Yep. Seems like the Pats are almost baiting someone into giving them a 2nd or maybe he was wanting way more than they were willing to pay and they're looking for someone else to negotiate the contract for them.

Agreed. This seems fishy to me. Especially for a UDFA guy.

This is typical of the Patriots

Would you rather have him and a soon to be demanding contract--or any player who is available in EARLY round 2?   A Panther second rounder is much more valuable than the Bucs second rounder, for example.  So we have more value with our second rounder than most teams.  This process removes negotiations, so NO.

As tempting as he would be, we need to keep our 2nd. We are foomg to have to build through the draft if nothing else but to keep our salary cap manageable. There's always a few 1st round grade guys that slide. Can't really afford to pass that up for a one year rental during a rebuild. Top 2nd rounder or 3rd round comp pick.

Agree. At 39, there will be a starting LT, CB, FS or MLB if we need them, all on a cheap 4-year rookie deal.
