It's happening. (Probably)

You're just being negative in hopes of it coming across as pragmatic. This is a 25 year old franchise qb, rare situation and upside. Stop it

Yeah dude that’s exactly what I’m doing. Woke up this morning and decided I’m gonna jump on a message board and come across as pragmatic to a bunch of people I couldn’t pick out of a lineup and vice versa.

I literally woke up with those exact aspirations, but will now stop because you told me to.

Omg if a safety linebacker hybrid is a deal breaker over getting QB2 you prioritize the wrong things lol

No doubt but Chinn is truly the first blue chip Safety we've had since Mike Minter. Historically this franchise isn't very good at finding those guys. I'd understand not wanting to let that go.

Worst case scenario I hope we can retain Chinn, DJ Moore, and one of Burns and or CMC/Brown.

I doubt Brian Burns or Derrick Brown will be traded if that is what you are looking for. If I had to guess look for Shaq Thompson, CMC, Jeremy Chinn, Robby Anderson, or Donte Jackson to be in the mix. We don't have a ton of insight on the exact details, but it will be more pick heavy than anything.

Not Chinn.... please!

Chinn????? No way. Best player on the defense?? He's the new QB of the defense, I'd be livid if they traded him for Watson.

Chinn’s positional value holds no weight. If we got out with not trading our young dlineman we would be in great shape. Chinn is a baller and a future pro bowler. But dlineman are wayyyyy more valuable.

How about, 'IMortgagedtheFutureoftheTeamfonaLotteryTicket'?

Watson is not a lottery ticket, unlike a draft pick. The team will have a steep hill to climb to be successful and that's where the leap of faith comes in, but he himself is a proven top-tier performer at the premiere position in the game and that's why the price is so high. I say that as someone who knows we need to move on from Teddy/QBs of that ilk but has no preference on whether it's a guy like Watson or somehow through the draft.

I will say though that if the Watson thing happens, it says to me that the team doesn't believe the rookie they believe in most (assuming it's any of them) will be available without a similar spend. Beating Washington really made things complicated and expensive.

    • I respect Deion but I said and thought immediately when he was hired there he would not be the coach after 3 seasons.  I don’t see it happening
    • If my reply comes off argumentative, that is not my intention so please don’t take it as such.  You said one word, probably subconsciously, in your post that immediately disqualifies him from being a QB in the NFL. You actually said it twice. Kid. It’s exactly how you see him, and exactly how the rest of the entire NFL sees him as well.  Yes, he is a kid, he looks and acts like a kid and that exactly IS the problem. The NFL is for grown ass men. Period. Hell, our kicker looks like he collects ‘taxes’ as a side hustle. These are straight dudes. Men.  Nothing in his persona changed from last year to this.  Nothing in his physical stature. Nothing. He has shown 0 development. 0. And he disrespects the entire organization, talking video games and Netflix in the offseason. Bro. Really. My man Chuba is busting his ass to look good for his second contract. Set himself up for life. How many RBs make it to even sign contract #3? First 2 games he has to run in to a brick wall continuously because Netflix can’t even get it over the LOS.  He’s a kid who pulled off the biggest heist in world history. He looks happier on the sideline goofing around than he ever has looked on the field. It’s time to cut bait.
    • I hear you and I can imagine it's frustrating as a fan, but UNC-CH leaving the ACC would be throwing away over a century of history. It would really suck if y'all, or Clemson, or any of the other remaining charter members leave. I still think it sucks that Maryland left as well. Feels so wrong not having that rivalry anymore. Maryland fuging hated us and I loved it. Who's Maryland's rival now in the big 10? Rutgers? lol. Also, I think that the Heels are more likely to be Kentucky 2.0 than you are to get serious about football upon joining the SEC. Both UNC (and also Duke's) administrations seem very stuck in their ways with sticking to their ways and remaining basketball powerhouses. I do wish we could see NC teams actually competing in my favorite sport sometimes but alas. I personally value keeping our history intact over trying to become top flight CFB programs because nowadays it's just a pay to win sport anyways. Even if UNC-CH got serious I doubt they could compete with that Texas oil money, or that Oregon nike money, or that USC rich kid money. That's all top level college football really is anymore. You're either an established blue blood or you're willing to waste tons of money that could be spent on education rather than football.
