Meh I wish high profile people would stop settling stuff like this and I wish victims would stop taking/demanding a settlement.

I understand there is a lot of legal and personal stuff that goes into decisions like that. But I feel issues - legal/justice system or otherwise would possibly come to light if all of a sudden things couldn’t be fixed with money.

But in the end everyone just learns what the price tag was and not actually what happened or what we can learn from it in any aspect. It’s sad.

False accusers need to get punishment as well in my opinion.  Even if it's eventually proven that the accused did nothing wrong the whirling poo storm caused by those types of accusations doesn't just poof into non-existence .

It’s kind of flipped. False accusers aren’t punished if no one presses charges. That makes sense because you don’t want to discourage anyone, false accusers are just casualties in that type of system. I’ll take it.

But they can most certainly be sued and punished if their victim does something about it. So yea, wish that would happen more.

But it’s extremely difficult if not impossible for the justice system to prosecute these kinds of cases without a compliant complainant though.

I find the timing suspiciously convenient for a guy with Texans connections.

I find it really weird.

If he's doing it because he's friends with the owner, it's not going to make Watson be more likely to play for him again.

And if he's doing it to hurt Watson, it's not going to help his trade value.

So I just feel like the connection has to be a coincidence, if anything the connection would make them want to keep it quiet until after he's traded (as it's pretty clear that's how this has to end)

Thing about false accusations is they don't only hurt the accused. They also make it tougher for genuine victims to get justice. Agree there should be consequences for stuff like that but yeah, it's complicated.

That said, "I don't believe her because she's accusing someone I'm a fan of" is an ignorant, moronic attitude that also makes it tougher for true victims to get justice. That's exactly the kind of attitude that keeps women silent and allows some douchebags to get away with their crimes just because they're rich, famous or both.

As far as this case goes, right now we don't know jack sh-t. There's an accusation, a denial, and a process designed to sort these things out that could very easily take a loooong while to work through.

And Verge is right. This is bigger than football. What happens now has the potential to affect Watson's whole life.

As soon as he said it wasn't about money, IT'S ABOUT MONEY.

In today's society the accused has to prove their innocents instead of the victim (or supposed victim) has to prove that the accused is guilty.  It's sad when a woman can say that someone did something against them and the accused has to fight to keep his name.

If it is true that this lawyer has connections with the Texans than this as a nasty as it gets.

Houston Texans Quarterback DeShaun Watson is facing allegations of sexual assault in a lawsuit filed on behalf of a female masseuse.

The suit was filed Tuesday by the Buzbee Law Firm.

Attorney Tony Buzbee tells FOX 26’s Isiah Carey that Watson was getting a massage from the woman when “Watson went too far.”

We’ve reached out to Watson’s agent for comment but have not yet heard back.
