Jay Cutler

So are you saying Brady Quinn, David Carr, JaMarcus Russell, etc. are all better? I know some of you guys are not happy with Jake, but don't be too biased to think every QB around are better.

The Bears have much good WRs as we have right now & they're not doing too well either. Look like you're incorrect there. You forgot that the Broncos weren't that hot with him there too.

Notice I said "just about". Nice reading comprehension there buddy. If you want to be specific, the only STARTING QBs Jake are better than are Bulger, Quinn, Edwards, Russell, and J.Johnson.

I think it's moronic at best comparing Cutler to Delhomme when Cutler has more than doubled the number of TDs Jake has. Also take a look at what Jake has around him and what Cutler has. Cutler doesn't have good receivers or o-line, but does have 1 good RB. Not enough. Meanwhile Jake has what every QB dreams of. Top 10 line, the best RB duo in the league, and a top 5 receiver yet still plays like poo.

Steve Smith is a better receiver than Bears' receivers. If Cutler were here, I'd bet his INT numbers would be lower.

Numbers don't agree.

Hester has 75 targets- 2 drops with a 65.8% completion rate with 38.4% first downs.

Smith has 72 targets-3 drops with a 47.2% completion rate and 27.8% first downs.

Now what??

Football outsiders ranks Carolina's line as 17th in pass efficiency, Chicago 19th.

In run efficiency they rank us 14th and Chicago-21st. As I have said, we are better a run blocking line but about the same as Chicago in pass protection. Neither line is close to top 10.

Another red herring when defending Cutler's poor performance. Funny how the other guy's quarterback gets more support than our own.

Maybe because Cutler is about 100 times better than Jake?

I won't argue that Cutler isn't better but 100 times. Their career passer rating is very similar, Cutler's completion percentage is 2 or 3% points higher but Jake's average yards per attempt is even. Guess who has a better TD to INT ratio? Yeah Jake.

100 times better??

Must be that new math:biggrin5:.

Confidence is a fragile thing....Looking at several games last season we were a few bounces from losing to SD, Chi, Det and Ari in the regular season....I recall the discussion after the Lions game about the weak victories etc. We are the same basic team with the same tendencies....Because of this fact I would not be surprised if they won 9 or 10 games for the season.......I know that I am a homer and I admit I get a little crazy the night before a game, but I am just sayin......

TD numbers for a QB aren't always important. Maybe the high numbers of TD's are due to having a crappy running game and always having to throw in goaline situations.

Which is worse, Cutler's throwing 17 ints out of 338 attempts and 14 touchdowns,or Jake's 13 ints in 221 attempts and 5 touchdowns?

With our recievers I'd take Cutler in a moments notice. There is no doubt in my mind that if Jay Cutler was the Panthers QB we would be giving New Orleans a strong run for the NFC South lead, especially since our defense is starting to improve.

I'm talking about this season. No other season is relevant to the topic at hand. Math, you say? Sounds fun.

NOT counting Thursday night's game (as it is unfair to Cutler, since he would have nine games compared to Delhomme's eight. Sadly enough, I bet he's still better even if you DID count it.):

Jake's touchdowns per attempt - 44. He has to throw 44 passes to get a touchdown.

Cutler's - 20. Over double the efficiency! On a worse offense, to boot. Worse receivers, worse o-line, and worse running backs.

Jake's INTs are 1 in 17. Cutler's are 1 in 23. In other words, Jake is twice as likely to throw an interception as he is to throw a TD, yet Cutler is more likely to throw touchdowns than interceptions.

Completion percentages? 58.8 to 63.9. Cutler wins again.

Yards per attempt? Cutler wins there. He even has more rushing yards.

If we had Cutler, this team's record would be much better than it is. Much better.

I see what you're trying to say...but did you just compare Steve Smith to Devin Hester at WR?!?

It is sad that we have to use other poor performances to make our QB look slightly better.

you really think Steve Smith and Jay Cutler could coexist? Please. Cutler would have a broken jaw by first practice end.
