Steve Smith talks some more

What I don't get is how people act like he's the team's only hope. He's a freaking wide receiver, for God's sake. Mark Carrier was replaced by Moose as the go-to guy. Moose was replaced by Smitty. Smitty will be replaced by someone else, someone who doesn't punch out teammates and cost the team 15 yards in key moments of games.

the same way people act like jake delhomme is our only hope!:smilielol5:

Define more for this team....DeAngelo scored more touchdowns. Beason actually tackled the guy with the ball 150 times. Brad Hoover has played special teams and offense every year....both of which he compares to running into a garage door over and over again.

None of those guys sulk when their number isn't called. They don't punch out a teammate because that teammate wants to learn something from film and that film doesn't make him look good. They don't walk up and sucker punch a teammate in training camp. They don't make comments to the press every time another teammated gets a big contract. They don't avoid the press every time they are in a snit and don't feel like talking. They don't support their quarterback through thick and thick.

And yet, half you guys on this board act like Smitty is the only player worth rooting for.

Hoover? Beason? DeAngelo? LOL. None of those guys have done more for this team and you know it. None of those guys have gone out and gotten us playoff wins. We havent rode DeAngelo's back to a Super Bowl. The face of the Panthers is Steve Smith. Not the glorified d coordinator he plays for.

Meat when Fox gets fired will you lose your job too? Not tryna be funny, just tryna gauge who would be unemployed on this board if a new regime came in?

No. I don't care what happens to Fox. I think he's a much better coach than his critics on here give him credit for, and that if they bring in someone else and that guy struggles those fans will have gotten what they deserved.

I just don't get the man crushes on Smitty. He was a terror in the 2005 playoffs, yes. That doesn't give him a free pass to act the way he does for the rest of his career. There's no excuse for saying "I'm no longer an asset here" after a win. Sorry, you can dress it up as fiery competitiveness or whatever you want, but it's not what you want in your locker room.

Take Steve Smith off the roster, and see how well that run game works.

You'll then be able to understand the value, even though we don't have a QB who can throw to him or anyone else.

I don't blame him for speaking or Moose. They are simply stating the fact.

As far as the comments of spirals hitting him the numbers, i can count on one hand the number of times in 8 years, he's been hit in stride. Delhomme gets him killed every single game.

So fans should expect a losing year every other year? When you hold your fanbase hostage with mandatory PSL dues no matter how shitty the product you give them, you're ripping them off. The Panthers rip off their fans every other year and use communist-like tactics to control media coverage & spin of said shitty product. The organization puts more energy and focus into the conformity of players than it does pursuing wins. If Fox worked for free, yeah the fans would be the bad guys. But he doesnt, he gets paid millions every year to do a job, if he cant do it effectively, the fans have every right to want him out of here.

Just because you win doesnt mean everything is excused. I was more pleased with this team in their loss to the Saints than in their win over Tampa. And Smitty's earned the right to say whatever he wants. I want Steve Smith in my locker room. A guy that plays with an edge and wants to win at all costs. I tell you who I wouldnt want in my locker room, Jake Delhomme, a guy whos been given the green light by the organization to suck and suck hard. I wouldnt want Jon Kasay at this point either. Having 3 kickers on staff JUST to keep him around is too much babying and coddling.
