Once people watch film they are seeing what others have said. Jones won't go number 1 but after starting just 1 year in college his command of the position is far beyond what you would expect. His ceiling is higher than folks give him credit.

The guy threw to wide as open guys, with all the time in the world.  Never shows any escapable or ways to elude pressure.

he also didn’t have zip to throw through tight windows.

i get people say, look he has a cannon, he can throw it 50 yards etc etc.  so could Will Grier.  But to have the constant zip and pro arm, he doesn’t have.

him being projected in the top 20 is insane

literally, the clip from the senior owl everyone is rerunning when talking about how good he is.  It’s a 15 yard  dump off where the WRs cleared out where no one was within 15 yards from the pass catcher and Mac simply led him.  I could do that.

Come on man he has plenty of zip on the midrange.  Someone posted a breakdown earlier today and it showed.  The problem is his deep ball

I can hack a few clips of Will Grier at West Virginia doing the Same thing

Can you hack a National Championship winning season together?

If I had 4 of the top 5 WRs to come out of the draft in 2 years, the top OL,RB and Defense, sure

wins don’t mean crap for scouting a QB

see Ken Dorsey, Chris Weinke, and Bama QBs prior to Jalen Hurts

Take him off Alabama and he's prepping for an insurance job right now.

This is something I keep trying to explain to the Jones fans.

He didn't actually show very many NFL traits.  He was the beneficiary of a completely loaded Alabama roster.  He in fact lost the only game he played in decided by less than two scores.  I do not count the Florida game this year since it was two scores until the garbage time TD.

I would argue that you could put any of the top 10 college QB's in the draft on that Alabama team and come up with the exact same or better results.

Watch the tape. Most of his good throws are 1/3 field throws.

So if in the middle of the field between the hashes.

If on the hash then towards the boundary.

When he makes throws to the field he struggles with placement and timing.

It's not hard to defend that in the NFL.

Take away the immediate 3rd and put guys on an island on the outside.

    • Yeah, ok... So if you are so brilliant then why don't you show your scouting reports to teams and get an actual NFL job..  SMH I get so tired of people saying they are smarter than people who hold actual jobs in this industry but just choose to be a small team market internet scout. Come on dude.  Also I get how you can say that you would have drafted another player over someone like Brooks. Sure thats a simple argument that one can make without being employed. But your missing all the conversations that lead to that being the pick and why. Picking players in a bubble is not the same as picking it on a team where you have differing scouting reports and feed back from different coaches about how they could be used vs other players with similar grades and those other players could be used. Then put on top of all of that what the team strategy is for the season.  Picking players in a bubble is not the same as picking it on a team.
    • Now isnt the time for the team not playing smart. They have to get their poo together and keep it together from now to through out the playoffs.
    • He is probably one now.  Players do come out early for the money, and you can argue that a first round selection makes you rich, but a second contract makes you richer--and the difference between #8 and #28 is a lot.  However, I will bet that 6 QBs go in round 1 next year, so maybe this is the year for him.
