Couldn't make it any worse. Never should been given a 14 million dollar contract in the first place.  Decent LB who had some good plays but missed way too many tackles by not wrapping up.

we have one linebacker on the roster, we restructure his contract to open up immediate cap space and give us an easy out next year.

the mccaffrey contract opens up more cap space as well. 
 

they weren’t good contracts to begin with.

Kicking the can down the road on two players who underwhelmed the same year they signed a lucrative extension. Seen this story before as a Panthers fan. Doesn't usually end well but I will withhold judgment depending on what ultimately happens with the quarterback position.
